Title: Latest rumors of Epic's future?
Post by: Tiberius on July 26, 2016, 11:30:39 PM
So I haven't heard much on this forum concerning Epic in a while.  I just talked to a guy at my FLGS and he said they are for sure going to 8mm.  Is that true?  And how do we know this?  Is there any news at all?

I don't see myself playing anytime soon, but I'm still interested in its fate.

All the Epic kids are over in this thread picking it apart...

Resin warlords the size of 28mm knights. Dream on GW, dream on. My wallet is safe this winter it seems.

(I stuck with Epic over 40k because I like to paint and play with small models).

There seems to be two conflicting rumours in the Tac Comms thread. One rumour says the titans will be the size of WH40K knights and the other says the warlord titan is around 6" tall.

If its the former I won't be buying anything. If its the latter I may be interested...

I really doubt they would be that big, it seems counter-intuitive, especially for trying to drag kids into playing it.

When I was a wee nipper and Space Marine 2nd edition had just come out, that was the game that we picked over the 28mm core games because of the sense of scale it had.

It's going to be 8mm, yes.  It is, in my view, totally incompatible with anything that was previously released, so it's only likely to be of interest to new players or those who are happy to restart or play the game separately alongside whichever older version of Epic they play.  It's also worth noting that it's going to be mostly a Titan based game, at least to start with, so it's essentially a revamped version of Adeptus Titanicus.

I won't be be buying any of it.  I like my old models and playing SM2/Titan Legions, but if it does get new players interested in Epic scale gaming that's a good thing.

a guy at the club I play at knows one of the guys working on the new edition of adeptus titanicus, he was saying the warlord titan is about the size of a 40k contemptor dreadnought so not as big as the knights

Hmmmm. I wonder if it will be scale - compatible with some of the larger, metal fan based sculpts that are floating about out there?

I will also be very interested in any terrain they make for the new game as this should be pretty much still compatible with the old stuff and the newer metal fan scupts?

Rather than start something totally new, I thought I'd summarize news for the past few months here...
