August was Warmonger Miniatures' best month this year for sales, so I'll be talking to Bob and lining up some unadorned horse sculpts. The plan is to get 7 horses without riders/tack sculpted and cast, then return sets to Bob so I can get Knights and Pistoleers sculpted on them in the future.
Because a few of you expressed interest I will make the horses available on their own. No idea on their cost yet, that'll depend on the weight of the production metals.

Ah this is super exciting! Great to hear!
Will the Knights be heavily armoured or lighter?
-
Great news Dave. Look forward to seeing them.
-
Knights will be heavily armored. I'm shooting for something from the 1500s when knights were being phased out in favor of Reiter. So maybe Maximilian Plate or newer?
-
Awesome! That's great news! Looking forward to seeing the results!
-
Good news.
Although between weak pound and ever increasing transatlantic shipping costs, it could scare my wallet!
-
Ya, with the exchange rate being the best I've seen it's the best time for me to commission sculpting from Bob. The other side of that sword is what you've said.
As far as I can tell though, international shipping via USPS won't be going up in 2017, just the domestic stuff.
-
Charge!
Looking much forward to this.
-
This is all good news. I must admit, I would probably only want the riderless horses in order to create galloper guns.
-
Those are coming after the cav.
-
Commission away. Bob said mid to late September at this point. I'll likely have them up on the website by early October if anyone wants them for conversions/dioramas/etc. Knights will depend on my sales for the rest of the year.
- 7 horses, without tack, armor or riders (those will be added later to master casts).
- They'll be around 15 hands (that's what my research pointed me to for 16th century warhorses), in 10mm that works out to be 9-10mm to the shoulder.
- There will be 2 each of galloping, cantering and trotting (one left foot forward, one right foot forward per gate) and one walking.
-
Nice work Dave !
-
This is fab news!
Thanks for keeping us updated!
-
Can't wait! Looking forward to making some baggage trains with those!
-
Or a coaching inn diorama... :)
-
Thanks for the effort Dave!
-
...and here's me thinking, "Yippee, hefalumps!" ;)

Absolutely gorgeous =)
-
I'm afraid the horse look a bit off to me.
Not completely certain why, but the look rather more like dogs, than horses. I think the body seems a bit short, and perhaps the legs are a bit short and chunky (though I realise there may well need to be a compromise for strength). Perhaps the nose needs to taper a little more?
-
some poses are great like left one of the third pose !
other are a little bit awkward. IMHO heads little small look like catlike animals.
-
Don't have a strong opinion on their shape. And I would want to wait until I saw them with harnesses etc. That might change the look somewhat. Just glad that this is being taken forward.
-
They're WiP shots, the musculature is there but he's sculpting the details on now.
-
They're looking good to me - will be a really interesting base for - Knights, pistoliers, artillery haulers etc. <3
-
They look very promising.
Thank you for the effort.

OK, here's the final blanks. I talked a bit more with Bob, and decided that having him sculpt these to completion to sell would be counter productive. He'd have to file manes/musculature off when adding armor, tack and riders. So that being said, I won't be putting these up on the site for sale. However, if you'd like some just PM or e-mail me and we'll work something out.

I wasn't happy with the heads on horse 3, 5 and 6 (left to right) so Bob took a second try at them:

Any thoughts before I have them sent off to me?
-
Oh ok so these are the "base" for the other units he'll make with them - that seems fair.
-
Ok, it is ok.
-
Looks good to me.
-
Looking good.
I can see the logic of not doing 'naked' horses. I assume that these ones will be cast up to use as bases for all the various cavalry? If there is demand for plain ones you could always do them later.
-
Makes sense. Thanks for taking the "blank" horses into consideration! Looking forward to seeing those Knights. I have realized that I'm not crazy about GWs Empire Knights. They are just so ridiculously bulky. That being said, some other manufacturers are too slight, (especially their lances). I hope you can find a good balance!
-
I am super excited to see what kind of cav we'll see whether heavy or something lighter. <3
-
Got the greens yesterday. I'm going to try to get them down to D&D next week to get cast up and pick up a restock. Sales were low in September (go figure :P) so no plans to commission cav sculpts yet. We'll see how the rest of the year plays out.
-
Nice sculpts , waiting to add to my dogs of war army . Although none painted . Interest remains very high . Hope to see movement and new units soon . PLEASE .
