Title: Screaming Bell
Post by: Ole on October 11, 2016, 08:24:30 PM
Hi guys,

just i quick question about the screaming bell.

The description says:
Quote
The Screaming Bell can therefore only move in the Command phase if it forms a brigade with one or more infantry units. It can then move 20 cm at infantry pace. It cannot move using initiative and cannot be driven back by shooting and does not roll for drive backs

Is the "it" in the beginning of the second and third sentence:
a) the screaming bell alone
b) the screaming bell and all infantry units touching the screaming bell directly
c) the screaming bell and all infantry units in the brigade.

Cheers

Ole

"It" is the Screaming Bell and all units in the Brigade. Skaven Brigades are not limited to just 4 units so this can be a pretty large number of units. It does not just mean the Screaming Bell and Infantry in the brigade either, it means ALL units in the Brigade, There must be at least 1 Infantry unit though (unlikely to be a problem) if the Bell is to move.

Uhrm.... I beg to differ......

IT = The BELL
the Bell can not move on initiative
the Bell is not driven back by shooting

by NO means the entire brigade is effected by this!.

MIND that a Bell, in contact with skaven infantry, could be declared excempt of being in the brigade, allowing the rest of the troops a move on initiative. But that simply means it stays in place (which often provides just what you need)

great! Just as in our gaming club. One says so and one says the opposite.

So Lex, your are basically saying it should read like this:

Quote
A Screaming Bell is a gigantic wheeled device – it cannot move of its own accord – but relies upon the great mass of Skaven to push it forward. The Screaming Bell can therefore only move in the Command phase if it forms a brigade with one or more infantry units. The Screaming Bell can then move 20 cm at infantry pace. The Screaming Bell cannot move using initiative and cannot be driven back by shooting and does not roll for drive backs.

Lex's explanation makes much more sense and I wouldn't doubt it.

Sorry for any confusion, I was not very clear in my answer. The actual rule should probably read much as you have re-written it but clarify that the brigade must include "at least 1 Infantry unit" The rest of the rules do indeed only apply to the Screaming Bell  :o
