Title: Which ruleset are people using?

I'm still very new to this game but I've got a bunch of ships that I'm determined to get painted this year. I'm slightly overwhelmed by the different rulesets and FAQs though - which one's best to get started with? If anyone can give me a quick rundown of the problems that some of the amendments fix as well that would be appreciated. Thanking you...

What is used mostly depends on the group of players you are with. Pick the rules the others are using.

If you are starting:
The official rules + FAQ/compendium 2010.

Start using fan rules of you have disliking for official bits (eg we use eldar unofficial rules in addition to above). If you are fine with them change isn't needed or you like to experiment.
