If one cavalry unit is in combat with one infantry unit. Then three cavalry stands are touching one infantry stand. (Forget who charged.)
1) Do you ONLY calculate the attack values of the stands who are touching an enemy stand? So for the cavalry 3+3+3=9 dice versus 3 dice for the infantry?
2) And then when calculating the combat results you CAN add the two supportive infantry stands for a bonus of +2 to the total succesful hits?
3) Suppose the infantry did the charge. Do they recieve only one +1 attack dice because only one stand touches an enemy? Vice versa if the cavarly charged, then they would receive a bonus of +3 attack dice because three of their stands are touching?
Thanks for helping me out.

1) only stands touching (including just with a corner) fight
2) The Infantry stands in support positions add to the result (but don't actually inflict hits) however I can't think of any situation where both would be able to give support in your example as only stands immediately behind or to the side of a unit fighting on its front edge count. I've not finished reading through the suggested rules changes yet but I am sure support is now counted before casualties are removed (a big change over the original rules)
3) Assuming the Units charged in the Open, ie: not against defended/fortified targets or against troops in woodland or other similar terrain (ie: ruins?) then each contacting stand gains +1 attack. Character Models do not gain this bonus.

Just a detail... if a cavalry unit charges infantry unit in the line formation to the front, there's no way that only one infantry stands fights. At least two stands will be touching the three cavalry stands. If the infantry unit is in column, then only one stand fights but only one stand can give support bonus to the combat result - the third stand in column doesn't count as it's not touching the actual fighting stand.

Thank you very much for the explanations! I understand now. I have read the rulebook 5 times, but Q&A at the forum is of extreme value :-)
