Started two years ago, finished at last during my recent holydays.
The boss hutt.

And the three parts of the village.
Still need to add the totem.
And repair the broken maw entrance for the big hutt.

ARH ARH ARH !

Good stuff. I'm intrigued to see what you do with your conversion.

I had this recast orc boss hutt... I wanted to add some new parts to my already existing village...
So i have decided to go on and to scratch new hutts from this one. An orc village is not a true orc village without his goblin inventor, nor a hutt for his shaman !
As i wanted to change as much as possible the appearance of the hutt i had, i have decided to make things big.
So i have disced the first floor. And now have two separate new looking hutts.
But it was not sufficient, and i have also descided an exploded up would underline the dangerousity of a gob inventor workshop.
So i dig it out and make walls appear.
I plan to go more or less that way (everything is temporary).
A big hutt at first floor but with an open front. So it will be possible to look inside. And there will be a crane, hoist, ladders, etc.
And i think i will try to add a platform like that, on the right.
With probably a catapul on it. Yeah, a catapult. It looks agressive and mad. The sort of thing that will explode and crush everyting if ever someone use it. It's goblin stuff.
As for the shaman hutt, i have added for now a first batch of Green Stuff and will sculpt the rest of the walls soon.
I have duplicated with Blue Stuff the small hutt that goes on top of the Orc Boss hutt. And i plan to use it for high and thin weird towers. Gob shamans need weird towers.
And i have molded loads of parts of the roof, to be able to do what i want.
-
I'm sure the results will be excellent!
-
Some few new advances last saturday.
I have sculpted (it's a too big word for my bad work) the widnows and door for the big house. It's bottom had been damaged during excavation operations. Still don't know building what it will become.
I have glued with Green Stuff and reduced the size of the front of the shaman house.
The shole roof was glued with GS again to a cider plug. It works well ! GS do not glue that much to cork but it's ok if you wet your tools. I have set-up a ring of GS on top of it and have gently pressed the roof above it. I could move it to the position i wanted easily, thanks to GS elasticity.
I have added a thin bottom to one of the two small towers, in order to start the not straight base. Goblin stuff shoudl never be straight. I have let it as is in order to add a metal wire inside.
And here is the beginning of the work on the big roof of the first floor of the workshop.
It should not stay that long, for it will not fitt properly, but for now i keep it as is. I will cut it later. And will probably add more roof part on the bottom.
Back to the shaman house.
I have worked on the base of the house. Added a zone where magic erupt, crackling the earth surface.
Added some more roof parts on the two sides of the façade.
Added some GS all over the wall of the house.
And here is a vision of what the shaman house should become within few hours work. It still lacks his two thin towers but you have an idea of what should be the and bottom of the building.
-
Very nice!
-
Since the last update, i have worked on the main roof of the gob workshop.
And scultped the top of the entrance roof of the shaman hutt.
And added some windows and a telescope to the highest tower.
It should more or less look like that at the end.
An attempt to see what is possible as for a windmill with some 28mm dwarf gyrocopter bits.
And stairs for the shaman hutt.
And bits to enhance the path.
Big roof top has been sculpted too, and should go more or less like that. Still need some tiny walls.
Façade for the shaman hutt...
Door for the third hutt. I still don't know what to do with it. Maybe boars pen ? Any idea welcome.
-
you need a Wyvern roost.....
-
Oh by Gork, YES !! A Wyvern roost !
Excellent idea ! Now i know what i will add to the last of the three houses. Give me some few time and i will work on that.
Thanks, Lex ! You're the best !
-
Ha ha, I wonder if you could put some eggs in it!
-
really characterful and great mix of skills
-
There will be eggs ! :)
For now, i have worked on the worksop. Added walls...
And a marvel of goblin work on the floor.
It should go like this.
Added decoration on the front of the shaman hutt.
And a 28mm bit to add shamaneness.
It should end more or less like that. Towers will be a little bit higher.
Windows... And i have added a back door.
And glued the base decoration too.
-
That is great customization Marell. Can't wait to see it all painted. Maybe a pen of captured hummies (say could also be added - for the Wyvern's meal time of course :o)
-
Thanks adams !
Captured hummies would suit well for fooding the beast, but i don't have half-naked ones. I think it will be goblins. I have plenty :)
Here are the some new advances.
I have ben completly convinced by Lex idea, to have a wyvern area somewhere. OK, it's not exactly a roost, but well... The main idea is here, and i thnk you deeply for that, Lex !
So, here is the first step of preparing the top of the roof with beams from here and there, random way.
And I have dig deep into my bits to find 28 mm dryads old bits. I had enough of them to greate the base of a giant nest on our scale. You can see the beginnig of the glueing on the bottom here.
And here is the result. A rather small nest, but i did not wanted it too big, supported by a large net of branches. The wyrm is a bit from the dark elves 28 mm range i bought few weeks ago saying myself it would be used one day or the other.
And then i have worked on the workshop. Remeber than exploded hutt ? I have worked on the aspect of the roof nearby. It had to seem blown-up by the explosion.
I could hardly make the GS glue on the resina but it finaly ended well.
Once dry, i did the same in the inside. Studying the roof of the main big hutt, i found normal that the roof would be seen inside the secondary small exploded hutt. So i tryed to make it appear with some marks of the destruction.
And then i have added the beams that supported the roof once.
Back to the first floor roof, i have added a guard-rail, and a hoist.
And a weird looking chimney.
Before this, i was hesitating, but i'm now confident for the future of this building. It will look more or less like i wanted.
I still have to work on this idea of a platform with a catapult on the right. We will see.
And... I have been weak on that, but the idea of the boar fence pleased me, so i i have decided to add an other building (yeas, i know, again...) to my village. Boars are so emblematic of orcs ! I needed it absolutely.
So, I have glued the two roof parts i had to prepare it...
... have the remnants of the dryad bits fixed as pilars. Nothing is wasted !
... And then, i have taken a small piece of cork that was lurking there and used it to have a small base, and the rest for the walls.
It should end more or less like this :)
Not much complicated... Exactly what i needed.
Definitive glueing of some bit for the shaman hutt entrance.
Glueing of the first tower, the highest one, on the shaman hutt. A major advance ! I was borded to see them separated. I'm happy of this step :)
And to end in a beautifull way, here is the aspect of the complete wyvern area.
It's not glued yet, and the wyrm will be on an other side at the end but well, i made the picture quickly.
Comments and advises are welcome !
-
Absolutely brilliant. The boar enclosure is really nice too.
-
Awesome work!
-
Stunning use of 28mm plastic bitz.
-
Thanks all !
Here is the next step.
Additions of explosions marks on the destroyed hutt.
Debris has been disposed in "star" layout to represent the strenght of the blow, sending stuff by the windows and door.
And the Lex special dedication : fixation of the nest ono top of the roof. As i had disposed the beams randomly, i had to cut them to fit the nest in an horizontal position, but it was not that difficult.
Addition of beams on top of the workshop roof.
Definitive positionment of the second tower on the shaman hutt.
Addition of beams, etc, to maintain the two towers. I tried to give the whole thing a bizare aspect, like a architect nightmare.
Here is the general aspect the whole building should have from front.
With each remnant of GS, i have consolidated my boar enclosure.
And prepared eggs and a stair for the shaman hutt.
Boars are multiplying...
Texture for the enclosure.
Addition of straw at the base of each beam.

Wonderfully detailed and thematic
-
Gee whiz Marell that is great stuff - such creativity. I can barely roll greenstuff as it is and you are turning out these masterpieces all in a similar style to the original WM gear.
What about a cage full of flagellants or such for Orcs food larder, a chariot workshop (surely even Orcs have to do repairs), troll cave?
Wonder if you could take a cast of these in resin or somesuch and sell the to us, your admirers/fans.
-
Scratches his head and rubs his grumbling stomach................ Dare it Iz boyz! Dat dare be in a right proper place ta be shak in up! Man, very cool. Great work, you make me want ta build. Keep it coming!
-
Thanks, all of you. Your feedbacks are really helping and i mean it.
Gee whiz Marell that is great stuff - such creativity. I can barely roll greenstuff as it is and you are turning out these masterpieces all in a similar style to the original WM gear.
Really, Adams, i have just begun using GS at the beginning of this year. What you see now is basic tricks. Molding with blue stuff is simple. Sculpting straw roofs too. You put your GS flat, you take your cutter and you striate your resina with the tip of the blade. It's not even that slow. Frankly, no high sculpting talent, here. I'm absolutely not able to scult let's say a face or a character.
As for similar aspect, yeah, i manage to find this good and simple way to prepare the roof and it seem similar to original ones. But as said, it's no big deal.
What about a cage full of flagellants or such for Orcs food larder, a chariot workshop (surely even Orcs have to do repairs), troll cave?
Damn... You tempt me with your troll cave ! A cage full of prisonners is fun but complicated to build. But it could be used as a game objective. Maybe i will think of it. A chariot workshop ? Mmmm... Could be a fun addition too. So many things to do and so few lives to live...
Wonder if you could take a cast of these in resin or somesuch and sell the to us, your admirers/fans.
I think most of the new buildings will be too complicated to mold. I have not thought of them in that way and i would have gone a different way at the very beginning.
Main problem is they are hollow. You can't cast hollow stuff. And some parts are very tiny, like the wyvern nest.
Scratches his head and rubs his grumbling stomach................ Dare it Iz boyz! Dat dare be in a right proper place ta be shak in up! Man, very cool. Great work, you make me want ta build. Keep it coming!

The unmolding of the egg went well. I don't know yet what to do with it but it will come. And the boars are multiplying (the bay is well, mom too).
Here are too eggs in the nest to have an idea of the size.
Addition of the stair that link in the air the two towers of the shaman hutt.
Finalisation of the boar enclosure.
At the very end, 6 or 7 boars would be great.
New additions to the shaman hutt base. A circle of stones.
Basing of the Wyvern hutt with cork. I wanted a more stonish base for that one, ir order to give it more altitude compared to the rest of the basic hutts.
Doom diver molding, for further purpose. Probably a goblin attached and offered for breakfast to the small wyvern. And probably a goblin used as target for catapult shot, nearby the workshop area.
White base of two of my buildings, but... I had forgotten this windmill idea that should go on the workshop building, so i will let it apart for now.
First painting, nevertheless, before i stop worskshop painting. Just for pleasure and because it helps seeing further evolution of the base.
Graveyard Earth for ground, Vomit Brown, and then wash of Charadon Granite for straw roofs, insisting on the bottom. For walls, grey and Charadon wash.
Green Stuff to link the stair more firmly.
Cream dry brush on the roof, especially on top. Dark brown wash on the ground.
Wood painting but i'm not very satisfied. I tried a new paint (Prince August) but the colour is too orange. It will fitt, anyway.
Base for the wyvern nest.

Dark brown juice on the boar's roof.
And then Charadon Granite again and again in washes. Mainly on bottom or between two layers of straw, to subline the different levels of straw.
Dark brown wash and Deneb Stone dry brush on the wood parts.
White dry-brush on the walls. Addition of vegetation.

It's a pleasure to have one painted, at last ! It smells like the end is reachable :)
-
Great progress!
-
Thanks, Ben !
I have started the painting of my favorite building of the moment, the Wyvern Area (thanks again, Lex !) :)
Boards have multiplied during the week. I cast one each monring and each evening during one week. My little daughter liked to see one new apear every morning during breakfast.
I went on with wood, and i have chosen a very passed aspect, like floated wood. A dark wood would not have been seen against the colour of the roof. I needed something contrasted. And i like this colour for wood, so eveyrhing has been painted with Dheneb Stone :)
And after that, Charadon Granite everywhere on the wood parts.
I wanted a more rocky base for the wyvern area, so i have used some greay and Charadon Granite too.
Cutting off of all the boar's leather parts. Yeah, is was long. And to avoid a too flat aspect, i have sratched every of them after that, to simulate a furr aspect. Not perfect, but it will suffice.

And to change teh boars aspect, i have found i could butt the head following the maw line easily. So i went on re-glueing them in different poses. It's simpler than expected and i'm happy of those small details. One is turning head left, one right, and one up. And one is scratching his back on the ground.
Again, several long and courageous layers of Charadon Granite and Agrax Earthshade on the roof, wood parts and base.
Cream dry brush on the wood parts. Vomit brown dry brush and same cream colour on the top part of the roof too.
Back to the shaman hutt, addition of a ladder.
I have this strange mad aspect i wanted, with a zig-zag between the two ways up, ladder and stair.
A little pause to judge what is needed.
The wyvern area nearly finished, addition of light on the windows.... Night is comming and i have fewer and fewer proper light.
Vegetation... And some unseen white dry-brush on the rocky base.
Quick advance on the base of the shaman hutt.
And a last small pleasure before it's time to call it a day : addition of the egg !
It is a little bit blueish, with sepia spots.
Painting of the door and... I think it's finished !
Some few addition are needed to enrich the base, like an orc or two, a broken egg, a gob offered in sacrifice, this sort of things... But the main thing is done and i'm happy with it :)
-
This is all looking excellent. I really like the colours you've gone with- they're not what would come to my mind, but I think they probably work better.

This is all looking excellent. I really like the colours you've gone with- they're not what would come to my mind, but I think they probably work better.
Hey Geep :) Tell me what you where thinking about. It could give me new ideas. How would you have painted them ?
The next step was to finish the half cut boars. And it ended well.
It seem nothing, but frankly, details make all the difference between a nice scenery and a realy nice scenery :)
I also have molded and cut the death divers i had. They will be perfect as breakfast for a wyvern, tied-up at branches, or goblin used as target for a catapult training field.
Someone on the french forum told me i should add a troll's cave, and it ring me a bell. It's an other must-have for any orc village. And i had the idea to use a rock and cave scenery i have already done last year.
Here it is during construction.
And painted.
As trees as magnetised, i should be able to prepare magnetised trolls, placard saying "beware, trolls", gobelin offered as breakfast, pile of bones... Well, you see what i mean.
Now, here are the new advances from last saturday. Some boars painting.
And glueing here we are with an enclosure full of wild boars.
It's really full, but orcs are not knon for taking care of such things (are they, mister Gun Wun ?).
I have painted onf Mononoke style, and i liked it. I think i will repaint this way my savage orc boar boys, to really well identify them amongst my army.
As for the shaman hutt, addition of the handrail on top.
It's gobelin made, so full of weird planks.
And i really had to be back to the gob workshop i had left behind last day. So i worked on the windmill.
I have trashed the idea of using 28mm gyrocopter bits. And i finaly used one of the Warmaster Gyro bits that Lex sold me few months ago.
I like the idea of a gob ingeneer, finding a crashed dwarf gyrocopter after the battle, and telling himself "hey, this is supposed to rotate ! Let's use it !".
Of course, he did not understood the whole complexity of the dwarven stuf. Finding the small propeller, he wonder where it could go at first... And then decided that it could only work better added to the first like this !
(http://
Anyway, you know goblins. They don't just loot things. The enhance. The add stuff to make the new version... Well... Different ! An old cow skin ? An imperial flag found on the battlefield ? Oh, yeah, let's add it for more surface ! It will surely rotate even better like this.
The rest of the day was not very very much producive. It's was a shity day, and i was sometime painting under a slow and thin rain... Was not very motivating.
So just went-on with white prime on the more or less ended shaman hutt.
And few washes.
And i finaly cut the bottom of the Windmill. I wanted it to be on stilts at first, not to charge the workshop base too much, and i still think it's a good idea.
-
Nice use of bits!
-
Here is what it looks like now. Hamp is still missing (glueing).
I have glued the second part of the roof. Just have to re sculpt the straw aspect here and there at connections.
Cut a new 28mm, from a skaven thing. It will be my central stone on the stone circle.
I have painted it greyish and white on the edges. And then to a patafix pice, before a bath in my green wash.
Shaman hutt is nearly finished.
And then... A small revolution.
I have been lurking on the net to see what orcish hutts i could find, to collect new ideas. And i fall on this very nice piece of art, representing Kark Eight Peaks.
And then, look forward for more :
And i imediatly fell in love with the vertical orcish hutt habitation idea.
Now, I MUST find some great pilars to do the same... And i will be able to have an orcish table inside or an old dwarf fortress. My actual buildings will be perfect for the ground habitations, while the ones on pillars will make perfect new standard orc homes.
So far, i have found the Dwarven pilars sold by hystericalwargame.
But they are expensive...
So maybe i will just print those 3D Moria pillars found on thingiverse.
And of course, i have strated adding new buildings to my collection, with the vertical idea in mind.
And i have cut down the center of the big roof to cover some. I found it suitable. With a more flat aspect.
it's not perfect yet, but i think it will fitt with some more details...
Ad here are the printed pillars with standard size. I plan to have one testes with 300% size.
Er... Did i say "i will not build more houses buildings" ?
Naaaaah...
-
I'm looking forward to these.
I think most of the images are from Warhammer Online- I brought the art book, great for inspiration, a shame the game itself was kind of dull and fizzled.
I really like the over-filled boar pen. You can see why they'd be grumpy pigs...
My own painting tends to be a lot darker- probably too dark. Your colours are much better at providing contrast.
-
I violence myself to use lighter tones than i did, those last years.
I have found that i appreciated more light tones than dark ones. Especially on small figs. Better reading of the figs...
-
Work advanced last saturday.
Here is the advanced technology goblin windmill "rotaysheun tùl".
And i have continued to work on GS addition here and there. And i have dig a furrow to add the beams to support the vertical construction.
And here is the windmill, more or less completed.
And i have selected a polarfox catapult to add a big weapon to my workshop.
I want a very precary construction for it. Sort of thing you must not shoot if you want to survive...
It's not finished, yet. I would like to give it a more fragile aspect. Working on it...
-
amazing stuff there marell - any more updates please?
Love to see you you try doing up some high elf architecture in greenstuff?
cheers
G.
-
Thanks, Adams :)
Here is a new advance.
I have continued to work on houses destined to go on the dwarf pilars of the conquished citadel.
Here you can see a round house (don't know yet how i will use it). And thein painting of the windmill and of one of the vertical house.
The other vertical house has been extensed.
Probably this extension will harbour a balista or something. At worst, orcs on foot defending the whole thing. Of course, this is not very flat and well made.
I have changed the base of the cata to look more fragile. I have cut one of the longest piece and added a "reparation". It looks even less serious now.
But it's not very visible on those pictures...
Gluing of the windmill.
Painting of the defenses that lead to the shaman hutt.
Painting on the floating stone, but not very visible.
A point, to see how it generaly goes.
Finalisatoin of the first house. Well, the roof is not completly terminated but i have old it like i usually do after that.
-
This is so incredibly awesome! :D
Love your work. All the detail is just amazing.
-
Thanks ! I'm the sort of guy who give importance to details ;)
Here is the following.
Work on the a vertical house.
Fixing the shaman hutt.
The most complicated thing was to put it vertical and to cancel the round shape of the green stuff on the bottom of each pilar.
Painting the workshop catapult...
Addition of a flat roof for the house.
Minor painting details on the workshop roof.
And... The spark of life with flocage and vegetation :)
Addition of the small bridge of rope from first floor to the windmill.
It will look like that when the windmill will have its blade.
And vegetation.
-
wonderfully creative and detailed
-
Stunning work!
-
Thanks guys ! Here is the following step.
I have just set up the dwarven pilars and sticked the houses on them. Apologies for the bad pictures, it was sunset just before going to work.
The scale is right to me. Massiv, huge, giant pilars, with colonisation of the orcs.
Reliefs on the pilars can be a problem. I had not thought of that... I will have to position the orc elements apart from them.
I hope for 6 pilars or 8 if possible.
And everywhere, orc houses, passages, bridges, defenses, etc. And cages suspending.
And if wanted, we can even go this way, for even more gigantism.
This house is strange. I will probably add someting under it.
And here we are with an idea of what i could be with the village on the base of the pilar.
I have printed a celtic knot to see what was possible but well... Not perfect. Not large enough.
-
This should look great. I think you may need a base of multiple pillars to have any meaningful link between them- though that can then create problems with being able to get your hand in and move stands during a game.
I prefer your two pillar idea- the added height is worth it.
-
Agreed on the two pillars. If i can, i will have some more printed.
I think i will have 6 of them, and maybe 8 within time. It should be able to either present an alley of pilars, or dispatch them regularily on the table to give the impression of a giant room with pilars.
I will probably work on two pilars linked by orc fortifications and bridges. No more than that. As you say, i must not risk the sceneris with our move when deplacing figs.
Here is the step after.
So, now, i must make a technical choice : how to stick the houses and further elements on pilars ?
I think i will remove the bottom of the pilars. They are completly closed. And then i will be able to place magnets here and there.
I could use a rod but i should drill the pilars and i would like to avoid. And above that, in case of shock on an alement, a rod would either break or the element woudl break. While with a magnet, there is a chance the element just fall.
And the new advances...
My bits have arrived ! Cages from crawlock the jailor are just perfect for me. A good strange old style. Looking very orcish in conception. Maybe a little bit small but... naaah, it's ok. I will modify them here and there and it will be good.
Even when assembled, they are not closed. It's pefect, for i will be able to make them a little bit taller if needed.
I will cut the locker that are turned in the sens i don't want. They will be oriented like this. Well, at least one of them.
And here we are with the goblin that end the windmill blades. He is carrying two wood planks in order to help creating more surface. The goblin chief told him he should just hold them like that. Did not precised it was for ever. After 8 hours, his arms began to hurt... :)
Added an orc emblema i had worked on to the workshop entrance. I did not know what to do with it. But it's ok like that :)
Small scratch on the rectangulare cage...
And here is the round one. I have turned the lockers down. They are a little bit tall for our scale but well, the main thing is that they give an idea of "orc locking". The fact that they are suspended is the best security against evasion.
They don't really have bottoms... It must be very penible for prisonners, to try not to fall !
And i have finished the basing of the shaman hutt :)
-
That's a stunning collection of buildings. Well done Marell.
-
Thanks ! New comment, no post... So, after that i have began to work on my pilars. I mean the orcish stuff added to them by the green skins.
This footbridge is magnetised in order to be able to orchish the dwarven pilars or not. Following my needs of a dwarf or orc table.
It's a lonwg work to cut and glue plank by plank...
But i like the appearance of this first test.
I will have to do several like that. And also rope bridges to link the pilars in the air.
I have opened with my dremel one of the pilars and began to remove the inner grid of the printer.
Preparing the roof of the big house that will go on a pilar corner.
Magnetising my houses...
And i have added the last object of my windmill blade : a gobelin hanging on planks (to ass surface for the wind).
A small checkup of the day work.
Painting of the flag and propeller.
Added some black paint to my exploded house that was not visible enough (but it did not do big difference).
And ths Windmill is complete.
A new terminated building !

Great stuff, as usual.
Personally I'd be concerned that the magnetised houses and bridges may be too weak when not on the pillar- storage could be an issue.
-
I have finaly decided to glue everything on one pilar, that will so become a permanent orc pilar, ant to magnetise one or two others that will either be dwarf or orc.
It will allow me to make a realy hugely orcished dwarf pilar. Well decorated, with orc tags, and loads of orc stuff here and there. And a base, that will be needed to add things like ladders, etc.
The two others will have lighter stuff. One or two houses, one or two footbridge and that's all.
It will be more expensive but well... Not that expensive.
As for the following...
Better pictures of the Workshop.

And someone on the french forum proposed me this picture... And it talked to me. I will make it as an other building. War Drums are a nice addition.

Thanks for the comment :)
Here is the beginning of the work on the war drums.
I had at first thought of working with this ork bits. But i had to order it from a bits seller.

But finaly, digging my bits, i have found two small dwarven drums that will fit my scale better.
I have prepared some flags. I want a lot of them.
This one may or may not have an old chaos flag.

Preparation of the drums and the platform.

I have changed, since, the pilars of the platform. To vary the shape and add round ones.

It will look like that on the end, more or less.
