I've had this project on the back burner for a fair while but managed to get it underway.
Tzeentch demon army. I've had no joy finding the GW models at a price I'm willing to pay so it's out with the old green stuff.
Here's a few works in progress.
-
Some demons
-
Demonic choir in progress and start of overlords - just need a few bits/arms and probably wings.
-
I have a few of the new Magister demons and some Laran light infantry on order to bulk things out a bit as I'll never get the project finished making them all myself. The MM Look like they'll fit the bill (the act is really coming along) but not a great deal out there for 10mm demons. The light infantry painted with red/purple washed white skin and gold or silver/blue armour will be demonic enough I hope. Might need to add on another few arms..
I've got a bunch more of the tzaangor heads which will become flyers or cavalry. I want to have chariots, cavalry and flyers just not sure what would be easiest here. I think the cavalry I will probably be put on steeds of some description. The epic screamers would be the best flyers but don't got none and pricey. Chariots, probably use discs with ideally flyers hauling them but I haven't come up with a decent template for the yet.
Swarms- haven't really crossed that bridge, either Microworld or just use brimstone horrors if shipping and customs scare me off. Any other ideas here folks.
I've got 3 metal horrors which can be beasts if I need them.
Titan forge sparkles of ignorance might join the fray but they're marginally bigger than I'd like but pretty dam sexy

I'm probably going to darksphere in town next week with the view to getting washes and paints. The blue horrors are tempting as I need some "bits" and may as well buy a box of these and tzaangors as the shields would help my chariots and I'm thinking if I cut out the body and attach the head to legs with green stuff then that could sort out some of the cavalry. The loin cloth bits could be decent standards if I can get them off in one bit.
Big old post for a two finger typist. If there's models you think might be suitable then please let me know.
-
Great ideas. Only wish I had more to contribute. Perhaps Onslaught Miniatures' Hellborn could be a different source for swarms? Available through Vanguard Miniatures in the UK.
-
Fantastic stuff! I always enjoy your sculpts... properly chaotic as ever.
We really should arrange a game soon.
-
Fantastic stuff, really...
About those chariots, maybe you could use the shields to make them floatable chariots. I mean no wheels. Don't really know if that is already what you planned to do...
But tzeentch chariots should not have wheels, i think.
Where does the small character on the last picture come from ? I have seen it somewhere... Familiar in the AoS range or something ?
-
Thanks for encouragement all. Let's see how plans go.
Marell - I believe it's from the silver tower kit, and yes, a familiar. There used to be some photos on here of Dave's chariots which used screamers but they've disappeared in the great Photoshop rodgering of 2017.
-
Chariots with Screamers would be awesome, but it would cost an arm... Or you could try to mold them, maybe.
-
There's been a fair bit of progress on the modelling a couple of orders have come in. This bunch were based off the changer of ways model. The cavalry have come on well and I'm about a unit in. I'll post up some pics this week.
The MM demons are good sculpts. I got 3/4 designs as the big headed blokes just didn't feel right. The vulture demons are a definite starter and the tester I've painted up looks very much the part. Laran miniatures order came through Friday so I'm going to paint up a light blue and pink skin version. These will be used to bulk out units and as charioteers.
I`ve ordered some of the sparkles of ignorance from Wayland but they might be a while by the look of it.
-
Wow, excellent.
Maybe a general "thin" aspect when you will put them all on a WM base, but... Naaah it's ok. They will do the job.
They make me think of the skekses ;)
-
It's been steady rather than sporadic but only very slowly. That said I needed to do a few to see what sort of units I wanted to go with.
Here's the first of probably 2 changling style units. They're quick to make these ones, well, comparatively.
There's a couple of the new MM vulture demons in there as well as one of the slaanesh style ones but the rest are my own. Some not quite as good as the others but on the whole they look the part.
The next unit I want to complete is the demonic choir which is 1/3 stands in at the moment.
There's a couple of cavalry units need painting shortly as well.
-
Windmill I made a while back still needs basing and foliage
-
Both your slaaneshii and your windmill are great.
The slaaneshii particularily fitt the fluff. Good job, really.
-
Very happy with the demonic choir. Need another highlight and basing.
-
A big WOOOW !!
The choir is wonderfull. Absolutely wonderfull. Both well imagined and well realised. The idea of a daemon with a clavecin is excellent.
One of the best idea and conversion i have seen so far, really.
And you have used the 28mm beits of the book very well !
-
Thanks Marell. I think the next unit will be a random bunch of pinkies, finish 2nd changer unit and get started painting cavalry. In no particular order. There's nothing settling in the mind regarding the flyers or chariots so they'll have to await a decision. I bought some scibor shields to use as discs or chariot bodies but need to do a few trials.
-
A unit of warriors on discs would be wonderfull. Or carring flying chariots.
-
5 units of infantry in. Undecided as to how many hordes I'm going to go with. 6 core sounds plenty. I'll probably do up one more Tzeentch unit.
I've managed to buy up a decent number of metal Nurglings but some have enamel paint which is proving to be beyond the white spirit. I might need something a bit more stringent. Caustic soda should kick it.
I'm short some decent wings for my overlord. The reaper Bones Deva looks OK but not sure what size it is. If anyone has an idea then please let me know.
I should note that I'm happy with the MM demons I got in. Vulture demons and the slaaneshish ones are good. Plague ones I haven't painted up yet. Only 2 variants of the vulture and plague ones though which isn't ideal but they helped me out with this lot. Enough rambling, show us some pictures you hippy.
-
Could you post photos of the vulture demons please? There are none on the MM website.
-
I'll see if I've got a couple left over but here's a link

-
Thanks :D
Difficult to make out exactly what they look like without a wash or some paint on them but clear enough nonetheless I reckon.
-
Not great photos but youll get more of an idea.
-
I'm really impressed by the aspect of the 5 units you have. All the figs are different, ant it really gives an impression of mad pack.
Best daemon army i've seen so far, clearly.
-
Note: Dettol has some poke. 3 days and a gentle rub with my old toothbrush and Bob's your Aunties live in lover.
Cavalry: done 3 units but 2 more in the pipeline. Didn't originally intend making that many but I decided to mix in a few of the blue horrors/ sparkles of ignorance and ended up with loads. I'm hoping to get some photos done tomorrow.
Still no bright ideas on the flyers or chariots. It'll come eventually...
-
Demonic Cav. Not 100% complete as yet. There's a few bits need painted and a couple of fixes before sealer and basing.
-
You... You did sculpt three units of those cavalry ?! This is awesome again.
Did you use bits or is everything sculpted ? Some parts seem of different origin.
-
There's some blue horrors in there, also some titan forge sparkles of ignorance, bits from various tzeentch kits for banners and shields are Scibor goblin shields. Some of the mounts heads I've made but most are tzaangor heads. It's probably roughly 50/50. Heads are tough at 10mm. Haven't really developed a technique I'm happy with yet for them. The answer may lie in blending putties. Also been trying to work on making my bits less static for the next two.
-
wonderful and creative
-
Clearly, i do LOVE this creating process. I think i have approx the same, but not for WM figurines. More for vehicules (Grail relicary, etc), monsters or sceneries.
Characters are still too small for me and i'm not sure i will manage to sculpt some one day or the other.
Anyway, i'm always in hunt for interesting bits. I thought of some first time i saw your cavalry units. It's the Skyfires discs supports. Could help for supporting a sorcerer or the two beasts on the third could go with a chariot, etc.

Cheers Marell- they look promising.
-
Idiot required for village.
Buildings largely made with the styrene found under supermarket pizzas, balsa, coffee strikers and a bit of green stuff. A couple more for the village and then a large coaching Inn, probably fortified.
-
Hey, they are erally nice !
I have seen loads of houses so far but i like yours especialy, for painting job really give them an old look.
Mines are not so beautifull !
-
Good stuff!

those look great, got any unpainted pictures?
-
Just about done with another one.
-
Well done. Those are really nice and characterful!
Dave
-
excellent, thanks for sharing, looks like great fun
-
Love these. Brilliant sinister-looking village!
-
Cheers all. I wanted a way to create cheap buildings with the intention of making half a tables worth, but I don't think I've got the legs. Another couple will do for the village then a stand-alone fortified coaching Inn. I had a brewery started somewhere which might get finished by the end of summer if I can find it.
I think I'm pretty close to a full table of terrain now. Just need to knock up a few roads and finish the river sections.
-
Well, yeah, you're on the way to have a nice small village.
A view on thr fortified inn i'm waiting for :)
-
Really lovely scratch built stuff, good job!
-
Some Tzeentch characters. Still not decided on the basing yet. might just mix a bit of silica gel in some regular basing mixture and see what it looks like. The last bloke with all the arms is a surplus overlords but I was very pleased how his tattoos came out.
-
I love the small creatures reading the book ! The other are a little bit too big for me... But well, maybe t's my imagination. Could we see them with WM troops ?
And yes, the tatoos are great :)
-
All of my demon overlords are larger than the rank and file.
1/3 swarms. not sure about the red, this might go back to white..
-
I'm also planning to use some of those horrors as daemons.
For my part, they fill be painted in blue, as tzeentch children.
-
Lovely work! I love the idea of this giant book demon being read by the others!
