I have recently expirienced my first game of BFG.
And its great.
I now want to expand my 40K force Hive Fleet Siren into space.
I have a large box of plastic tyranid bits but not that sure where to start.
What do you suggest?
Thoughts, Ideas or Comments?
Thanks in advance

i would put some adrenaline sacks on 20X20mm bases to represent ordnance.
-
What about bases for the other ships?
I have lots of round bases and wite but no flying bases
-
these bases should work, but be careful, the bases could be a little bit bigger than the flying bases are. so they are easier to hit with a torpedo salvo, or a shot of a novacannon.
p.s.: i use golf t`s for the stand when the ship isn`t made of plastic. works pretty good.

Scrap the round slotta-bases, find some wooden circular shapes at a craft store, and use the straight portions of a paper clip.
For smaller and lighter ships 110# monofilament fishing line can serve nicely to create the illusion of flight.

How much bigger are the 40K bases?
Would they be a huge disadvantage?

If you're talking about the bases that Land Speeders, etc... come on, then they are about twice the radius, and without bothering to much about with pi, I', guessing four times the area. The BFG bases are oddly enough the old WH and 40K flying bases, which were a royal pain for all the metal models that you'd use them on as they'd snap so often...

I mean the standard round black bases. That most models come with

i took some pictures of the round bases gw produces.
just to show the size.
the first pic shows (from the left to the right) first the big base were heavy weapon teams of the imperial army are put on, the second is the big flying base, and the last is the one were terminators are put on.
the second pic shows (from the left to the right) first the base were terminators are put on, second the small flying base, and last the standard base for 40k infantry.

What are the measurements of the BFG bases ?
-
59.5mm the big and 39.5mm the small
measured it out 2 minutes ago...
-
So the 60mm and 40mm black bases should do fine?
-
yeah... should do it.
but i measured out one of my `60`mm bases, it was 64mm wide!?!
i measured it with a precition device...
damn gw...
-
What about just the flat surface without the sloped edges?
-
that could be right...
but in which case would base to base contact acour?
i would use the outer measurements in all cases, or build an own base with the"right" measurements.

I think Ill just stick with that ever so slight disadvantage. But it wont matter when I have a whole converted Tyranid force.
I now have 1 and a half weeks to get a fleet together. But I have no idea about which bits to use a which weapons

As an aside it looks like you can still get the small flying bases on the GW website. I was going to offer to sell the blister of them that I unearthed the other day, but you'd probably just be better off buying diret from GW as my postage cost would be near enough what they charge anyway...

I have bases sorted at last. And my ship designs and 3D counters are in production.
But Im now stuck on how to arm some of the ships
