Title: A Good Army To Use VS O&G? (New To Warmaster)
Post by: Joasht on December 15, 2009, 06:21:34 PM
Heys all!
I'm new to warmaster, and I was wondering, what army does well against O&G? Or are all the armies balanced?

My cousin is incredibly excited about the game and has been asking me to play, but I'm pretty neutral about all the armies-miniature wise :/

Thanks!

The Warmaster armies are prety balanced, a good choice for a beginner army could be HE or Chaos. HE because it is realy forgiving in the command/control sphere, Chaos because it can be one of the smallest armies in the game unitwise.

Most people around here are prety hyped about WM, it IS a nice game, which is quick to learn and will take considerable time to master, allowing for loads of playing fun !

You could always start playing the game using counters Warmuster (http://sites.google.com/site/wmplaytest), until you get the hang of the game and can figure what style of army you might like most

I would pick an army that suits your playing style.
Agressive - go for Chaos or Skaven,
Defensive - go for Empire or Dwarfs -
Elite - go for High Elves

How much time you have to paint and how good you are should also be a factor - if you are an avid painter and really good, you may wish to go for Brettonia. If you want a simple, quick paint job then perhaps something with lots of armour (Chaos?) or lots of uniformity (Tomb Kings?).

How much you want to spend is also a factor that you may need to take into account? Horde armies are more expensive. Some armies turn up more often on e bay that others and can be purchased, over time, at nearer to £5 a blister instead of the £8 if you order them direct from GamesWorkshop.

Just some food for thought....
