Using pit fighters.
« on: March 24, 2010, 02:00:56 AM »
Hello. I want to paint some pit fighters but I have read that this band is not offcial. It sound strange because GW have made miniatures but this world is "mad" so I can't do anything.

Do you think that I will be in troubles for using this band?. I like the miniatures.

Bye.

Hi Ale,

Yes it is funny that GW has created miniatures for pit fighters even though the warband is technically unofficial. Using pit fighters should be fine and I suspect that most gaming groups would be OK for a member to use a pit fighter warband. It might be different in an 'official' tournament situation though.

It gets more crazy because there are actually two different sets of warband rules for pit fighters (the first can be found in Town Cryer 14 and the second can be found in Town Cryer 21). I am not familiar with the rules for pit fighters though and I do not know which is better out of TC14 or TC21. Hopefully others will be able to answer this for you.

Cheers!

Thank you for your answer Rationalleming. Here in Argentina we have not got oficial tournaments because GW has not got a comercial relationship with the shops so, you can find some independients shops, but no more.

In the same way we can find the amazons warband, we have miniatures but it isn't oficial.

In my country many people use pit fighters with the second pack of rules (using the gladiators stiles: orck, undead, chaos, lizardmen, dark elf witch...)

I think the band is a good choice, you can win or loose in the same way than the others. If GW sell the miniatures, we can use thems without problems.

Bye.

If you want to play Pit Fighters then definately go for it and fun with them!

The later release is, of course, the revised version of the warband so the other one is kind of outdated. However, some people prefer the older one because they don't like the restrictions of the weapon styles. I think these styles are a great tribute to actual Gladiators so I personally like that feature. Either way, there should be no problem with choosing this warband. Unlike The Sons of Nagarythe there is no unanimous opinion that they are unfair.

Cianty I think in your way, there are not unanimous opinion. I think that GW should release a new Mordheim book with all the information that the gamer needs to play, but now this situation is imposible.

Thank you.

Bye.
