The one thing I wish Bretonnians had that GW made would be - an equivalent to the War Alter - a Reliquary or Grail retinue like there is in the Warhammer range.  That would be a great crusading unit!

@Lex, very nice objectives. Are these part of your terrain rules project?

@JChaos, I like the Brets, and the historical link is very nice. I wish some of the guys I game with did this kind of thing!

And here's my sorry excuse for not getting anything done yet. I've been seduced by the call of Epic Armageddon after one of my oldest friends suggested we play a few games at Warhammer World soon. To celebrate I'm adding to my Imperial Guard army. The newest recruits are these Sentinels (and the pill boxes in the background which will be the army's objective counters):

I'm also tidying up and rebasing my Space Marine army (which I bought painted a long time ago), adding grass and a few more details is my attempt to finally make them mine! Here's the Thunderhawk (part one of the epic rebasing project):

With a bit of luck I'll be back painting Warmaster soon but while I'm enjoying painting Epic I'm planning to keep going (it won't last!).

@pw

Don't worry - I'm always happy to see Epic. =)

It's inspirational.

With March coming to a close, here's my one and only Warmaster entry. One of Vincent's excellent sculpts (which my painting and photography don't do justice!):

And more fool me for only getting one of them! I can see Storm of Magic translating very well to Warmaster and want four or five arcane fulcrums to try it out.

My basic idea is that the fulcrum itself counts as a unit and that each one can be joined by a magic using character. That way it's possible for units to attack the wizard/fulcrum (likely with a maximum of one base being able to attack). Add in some free monsters, remove the limit for magic users, maybe add in a couple of new spells, and set victory as controlling the most fulcrums at the end of the game (or VP if this is a draw) and I think you'd have a fun game.

I'd imagine that the fulcrum would be 3 attacks, 8 wounds, 5+ armour, and be immune to drive back from shooting and doesn't move following defeat/draw in combat. Wizards on Fulcrums who are defeated in combat may move to a friendly unit within 30cm rather than being destroyed. Wizards who draw in combat stay put.

So far I've got this fulcrum and an elven waystone one (not as nice but it'll do). Two more and I'll be ready to give it a go. I was rather hoping that Vincent might make another one or two fulcrums...  ;)

Nice rules and nice paint!

When you say "Add in some free monsters" what are  you refering exactly?

I didn't take too much attention to the fulcrums, until I read your post

In the Storm of Magic rules for WHFB you are allowed to spend points on monsters (from a fairly extensive list so that most armies have access to most monsters). These points are on top of the points allocated to the army itself. So, in a 2000 pt Warmaster game you might have a couple of large monsters on top of this list itself. What I like about this is it means that the big toys get fielded even if they aren't the most competitive units for their points.

I've not spent much time looking at the Storm of Magic supplement but will have a go a translating it to WM when I get a chance.

Man I'd love to field a high elf army with a dark elf hydra or two - monsters are a delight. =D

Hey, nice paint PW :)

I missed this post and found it only now. Sorry for not answering before and resurecting this old thread...

You are right: Storm of Magic works well with Warmaster.
The last french campaign includes them within battles with dedicated rules and this worked great, renewing the game, adding objectives, without breaking the game balance. I had only positive feedback.
Before you ask, the rules are un french :(
But they are here if you are interrested:
http://www.brimarx.com/pub/wm/fleau_de_magie/FdM_ReglesCampagne_v3-3.pdf

It contains campaign rules you can ignore, but also fulcrum rules on pages 7-8, new epic spells on pages 9-13 and new minor sorcerer profiles on page 15-18. Most battles also play with invocated monsters whose profiles are described on page 19-23 (cost is lower than regular WM cost).

Maybe it can help ;)
