High Elf Elite substitutes - White Lions?
« on: February 24, 2012, 06:09:32 PM »
http://eurekamin.com.au/product_reviews.php?products_id=10837

I've been staring long and hard at these - but when I google or search this forum - I can't find any painted up models or size comparisons with Warmaster models.

Has anyone bought these?  I know people love the chaos dwarves and use other models for Wood Elves etc. (In Warmuster #1) but I'm yearning to hear a first hand review of them and whether they'd "fit in" to the army of a newbie like me who can't afford £50 a blister on OOP Swordmasters.

:-D

I think I have some in my store.
They are a very nice sculpt and the army well.
I will try and do some pictures.
You can order them direct from the UK as well.

Ooh!  Thank you that would be fab - as another thread is talking about - comparison of similar ranges is very helpful for newbies. =)

No worries!

Just thinking about elites in general -

http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?93322-Warmaster-High-Elves-Army-4000pts

Just seeing how this guy does Sea Guard...  really clever - does anyone else here have any other ideas for showing off Elite spearmen or Sea Guard in a different way?

I'm currently studying the 28mm Warhammer scale ones and I quite like the idea of him using the archers to suggest their elite dual role... But on the other hand if I'm just using them as exotic looking spearmen someone might not be happy with them looking half like archers... So I'm back to modifying their shields / green stuffing banners on them...

Ha ha, herp derp - that'll teach me for not reading the context of a Google image search.

Do you have trouble with doing the archers and spearmen half and half like that?

No, I paint in strips anyway then glue to the base so it is very straight forward.

Going by the pictures, and the description you have just bought yourself 2 units of Swardmasters and 3 of Phoenixguard. I would say that is 44 pounds well spent, as when properly auctioned that is about what you would expect to pay per unit (and not for the lot !)

Oh - thank goodness!  I thought that it was OK - but paniced after I'd bought them as I thought the Phoenix Guard were merely empire halberdiers for a moment!

Now I can really have some variety to the rank and file!

How did I miss that!!??  o.O   I am sad panda.   If you are ever looking to sell off a unit of your Phoenix Guard collection I would gladly copper up for it.  8)
