Poll

Which paint scheme do you prefer for an IN fleet?

Seems relatively easy to do and crisp enough to stand out.
0 (0%)
Looks great though I imagine the white would be a pain
1 (50%)
Similar to 1 but different enough to be distinct
0 (0%)
Probably beyond my skills but wow.
1 (50%)
Classic red and gold looks good but might preclude the standard chaos colours for a chaos fleet.

Help sought for IN paint scheme (which do you prefer?)
« on: May 12, 2013, 05:56:13 PM »
This is partly to consolidate my overfull collection of BFG photos and partly to get some opinions.

I have a collection of multi-coloured BFG ships bought off ebay that all need stripping, as well as some new ones hopefully coming soon when GW finishes recasting the metals.

I'm entirely torn on what colour scheme to go for. I know I don't want the 'traditional' green for my Imperials as it's a strong contender for a scratchbuilt DE fleet, or a chaos fleet.

Below are the main images which have most grabbed my attention and interest. I'm sorely out of practise at painting, i have an airbrush, though am yet to properly use it in anger, and was planning on using BFG to up my painting skills before even looking at my Infinity or DKoK models.

Any general advice on painting BFG ships more than welcome.

Nova Cannons are for these sissies who as a kid too preferred to throw stones at the others from a safe distance rather than closing in and get into a real fight ;D

1,2, and 3 ared all pretty interesting. 4 is pretty busy, kind of like some of mine :/. 5 is good, bit too "Chaos" but that's not terribad if its what your looking for (some of my Bastion ships have a similar feel to them as theyre older vessels by fluff).

I would recommend going with something closer to 1 which is a pretty basic feel for the IN style (basic hull color, complementing prow/trim, metallic (or nmm) on the guns/antenna/fine trim. The nice thing about this is you not forced into any scheme and go with whatever colors or styles you like.
I don't make the rules, I just think them up and write them down.
