Greetings Fellow Aeronautica Imperialis Enthusiasts,

Sign-up has now begun for the 4th Annual Airspace Campaign.  This year’s title is Blood & Irongard.  This campaign in particular has a special resonance with me.  Forgeworld feels that Aeronautica Imperialis is dead.  I feel it is now in the hands of each one of us.  It is up to us.  If we want to keep playing we can only count on each other to help expand our player base.  The community is now in control of new content, background, art, and models.  It is an exciting time to be an Aeronautica Imperialis player and to be part of this opportunity.  Long live Aeronautica Imperialis!   

Blood & Irongard is an Online Campaign in the spirit of Games Workshop’s own The War for Armageddon, Eye of Terror, or Medusa V campaigns. In the Blood and Irongard Campaign, you can make a difference by buying, painting, modeling, or playing games related to the Aeronuatica Imperialis game system by Forgeworld.

The Campaign Booklet contains background, new rules, new missions, maps and more! It is a great resource for players experienced in the Aeronautica Imperialis universe and those new to the grim, dark future of aerial warfare.

The campaign will begin on September 1st, Central Standard Time and run until November 30th. To participate you can buy models, paint miniatures, build new aircraft, write exciting stories, create art or play games of Aeronautica Imperialis.  The choice is yours on how you would like to take part, but you will control the destiny of Irongard!

Feel free to introduce yourself, talk about what factions you will be playing, and set-up a game with your fellow participants. You are not restricted to only playing a single faction. Refer new players to sign-up and you can earn extra campaign points when they participate.

Just for fun, I looked at some of the previous results of the campaigns.  I was pleasantly surprised by what I had found.  The past winners were...

I'm pretty excited for this campaign.  It takes the setting away from the Eastern Fringe for the first time, and towards the Core.  One of the key things I like about this year's campaign is it actually adds a completely new Aeronautica Imperialis Faction that is not simply a derivative of an existing Faction.  If you look real close and squint, this new faction will look suspiciously familiar to you older, beardier, shorter gamers.

 

Of course, it also expands on some existing factions with additional rules on Lost and the Damned, Rogue Traders, and Tau Auxiliaries too.  There are also additional advanced rules for Gifts of Chaos, Demon Engines, and adding Special Equipment to campaign aircraft.  Overall, a lot of fun stuff!

Remember, this year's campaign has special relevance as Forgeworld has discontinued the Aeronautica Imperialis line.  If you like Aeronautica Imperialis then it is up to you, me, and everyone in the community to keep Aeronautica Imperialis going.  It is through events like these that we keep the community alive and ticking.  Join us, and together we can continue to have fun playing, expanding, and enjoying the Aeronautica Imperialis experience!
