My first Warmaster game!
« on: December 23, 2013, 12:28:58 PM »
Hello everyone!

Id like to play my (more or less) first Warmaster game! Now, I have two painted armies (Elves and Lizardmen). I was wondering what kind of game size I should choose and what kind of armies would be fun to play with.

Here are units I have at my disposal:

Warmaster Army Selector
Lizardmen Army, 1605 points
Warmaster Armies
----------------------------------------------------------------
140 - 4 Skinks
300 - 4 Saurus
110 - 1 Temple Guard
135 - 1 Kroxigor
140 - 1 Cold One Riders
85 - 1 Terradons
250 - 1 Stegadon
95 - 1 Slann Mage Palanquin
110 - 1 Saurus Hero
- 1 Carnosaur (65)
210 - 3 Skink Hero
30 - 1 Skink Shaman
----------------------------------------------------------------
1605 - 13/7

Warmaster Army Selector
High Elf Army, 1760 points
Warmaster Armies
----------------------------------------------------------------
180 - 3 Spearmen
300 - 4 Archers
220 - 2 Silver Helms
100 - 1 Reavers
190 - 2 Chariots
130 - 2 Elven Bolt Thrower
180 - 1 General
280 - 2 Hero
- 1 Giant Eagle (20)
- 1 Dragon (100)
180 - 2 Wizard
----------------------------------------------------------------
1760 - 14/7

How many points should each side have? What units? Also, a very important question: which rule set should I use for the lizardmen? There seems to be at least three different army lists. I am not sure I like the rules in the most recent list (the rules for the slann seem to be strange, as he cannot give commands himself).

Cheers

Warmaster Army Selector
High Elf Army, 1010 points
Warmaster Armies
----------------------------------------------------------------
120 - 2 Spearmen
75 - 1 Archers
110 - 1 Silver Helms
100 - 1 Reavers
190 - 2 Chariots
65 - 1 Elven Bolt Thrower
180 - 1 General
80 - 1 Hero
90 - 1 Wizard
----------------------------------------------------------------
1010 - 8/4

Perhaps something like this for the High Elves? Could ditch the wizard probably.  I don't know enough about Lizardmen to comment. :-X

The one where the Slann proxies his command through the Skinks is the correct one. Believe me, if played properly that rule may be strange, but it fits the fluff for the Lizardmen army, and in in the right hands it is very nasty !

For game size, buff both armies to 2k with some MI or abilities

    Warmaster Army Selector
    High Elf Army, 2000 points
    Warmaster Armies
    ----------------------------------------------------------------
    240 - 4 Spearmen
    300 - 4 Archers
    320 - 2 Silver Helms
    - 1 Banner of Shielding (50)
    - 1 Banner of Fortitude (50)
    100 - 1 Reavers
    240 - 2 Chariots
    - 1 Battle Banner (50)
    130 - 2 Elven Bolt Thrower
    310 - 1 General
    - 1 Dragon (100)
    - 1 Orb of Majesty (30)
    180 - 2 Hero
    - 1 Giant Eagle (20)
    180 - 2 Wizard
    ----------------------------------------------------------------
    2000 - 15/8

If you could just proxy 3 stands for 1 spearmen unit you'd be set for a 2000 point army, though heavy on the items and command stands. =-P
