When will GW officially end SG?
« on: December 19, 2013, 02:34:42 PM »
I've wandered through the SG range on the GW website and even things I thought were too unloved to sell out are vanishing. Necromunda and Inquisitor are completely empty and the others are down to a handful of models / units.

I wonder when they will actually pull the plug completely - because that would involve redesigning the main bar of the website and taking down all the manuals / rulebooks in PDF format that we've been lucky to have until now.

My guess is it will be whenever they have their next web page redesign/update planned for.
Not that it really matters to me anymore, since you can't get anything for warmaster anymore, apart from a couple of odd units.

Out of curiosity, I just looked on the UK GW website and there are now only two blister types remaining: Goblin Wolf Chariots and Undead Carrion.  I wonder which one will win the competition for 'least loved' WM troop type?

I just looked too (Sunday evening UK). The goblin chariots win! When you try to put carrion in your basket it says not enough quantity of stock.

Goblin chariots. Without going up into the loft, I think I've got 2 or 3 units. I would have bought more but they were complete pigs to glue together. Flipping wheels kept falling off the things!

Every year for a while now there have been rubbish rumours about either Blood Bowl or Epic coming back as a boxed set.  After Space Hulk people like me really thought GW had stopped ignoring old timers and were going to release boxes like that as gateway games just to drum up interest.

Really hoping against hope one of these rumours turns out to be true as the old sculpts are thrown out in a skip somewhere in Nottingham.

After Space Hulk people like me really thought GW had stopped ignoring old timers...

If you have watched the GW management's actions in past few years you now that this is not gonna happen.. especially now, when their stock value plummets. In fact GW is not only ignorig the fact, that miniatures for wargaming are not Lego toys and that they are higly depended on player community (unlike Lego, you need someone to play against/with, and the more players you have around, the bigger the fun, right?), but it's been systematicaly destroying the community by it's inquisiton-like legal actions and bully-like terms of selling their producst by independent retailers (for simple reason - to decrease sales via retailers and increase the sales via their onw web site to get maximum margin). And from this community they are ignoring, the old timers are those of least importance for them - most of them have their armies for years and buy only time to time one or two things they like.
Furthermore - we all now they dropped metal in general (too expensive). And it is also widely known now,  that they are dropping Failcast too, and that it was only stand in before they do all their stuff in plastic. So if they are to release new stuff, they have to do all designing and stuff from the start. And since I'm more likely to belive they are dopping some of the least popular WH armies that do not sell enough (because only thing GW is concerned about last years is sales) compared to the designing expences, I'm sure they don't give a f..k about pleasing some old gamers...

And to the topic - there goes a rumor, that the new web site incorporating FW stuff is comming in March, so if this is true, this will be the true end of SG.
