[BFG] Strike Cruiser Carrier
« on: November 11, 2014, 06:41:21 AM »
Been in a bit of a slump of late, and I've had a difficult time getting my hobby mojo back. About a week ago, I managed to get a little bit of hobby time in.

I filled the weapon batteries off of a Strike Cruiser so I could convert it to a carrier. Here is a mock-up of my first attempt.

The white part on the left is 2 trimmed "I" beams glued to a thin piece of plasticard. The grey part on the right is the cut down upper assembly of an old school las pistol.

Bigger is better. If bigger wasn't better, then it wasn't big enough!

Hmm, not bad, but why didn't you use the launch bays of the Imperial Cruiser kit? On the other hand, it's also nice to see a different type of launch bay, but wouldn't it then be fitting to have multiple launch bays on each side, rather than one giant one? So maybe duplicate the one you have on the back and replace the front thingie with one of those?

Thanks Malika.

I didn't use the IN launch bay bit because don't like it.

There is a single giant launch bay on the GK strike cruiser and on the battle barge. My mod is based on that. Also since the Carrier upgrade is only strength 1 prow/starboard, I didn't think it made sense to have 2 bays per side.

I doubt I will end up using that thingie next to the launch bay, its more of a place holder at the moment.

This project (and my dislike for the IN launch bay) has inspired another project that I will share when it is a little more developed.
