Mechanicus - Viable in vanilla?

My question is simple. Is Mechanicus viable when not using the BFG:R rules?

Significantly cheaper ark? I dunno really. They just seem rather expensive, compared to IN and Bakka.

The Ark is a tad expensive yes but other battleships will do as well. I have a Retribution for example. And yes the AdMech is an expensive fleet but gets lots of neat extras. Be prepared to be outnumbered.

Yes, they're totally viable, and the extra perks rolls are always fun. For that matter, all fleets are viable in the rules...the fan edition is just there because some people want change. :)

Hey,

Given that you are playing an AdMech fleet an Emperor + Dictator might be a tad to much on the carrier side. All capital ships get +1 turret because they are AdMech, with the Emperor you have enough AC to be defensive + offensive.

Furthermore: 1 nova cannon is enough, torpedoes are a better weapon in the end anyway. But 1 NC to add to the mix for fun is always good. Torpedoes also have the benefit to work better in synergy with the attack craft.

So with that I would change the Dictator to a Lunar, drop a Nova Cannon, take a normal Magos (the cheaper one) because the Emperor offers +1 Leadership. :)

With the remaining points either 2 escorts if it fits or re-rolls. Re-Rolls are always good. :)

Lunars will be squadroned, and one of the escorts will be given an extra turret.
