Flock
« on: November 22, 2015, 04:47:03 PM »
I'm looking for some "old style" GW flock, the flat green stuff from the mid to late '90s. Does anyone know of a source for this please?

I don't need much, just enough for about 40 or so 40x20mm bases for Warmaster.

I don't know the exact flock you mean, but GW has never made its own product like that. If you know of a general model store they should have a heap of flock, which may fit. Otherwise you could google model companies like Woodland Scenics.

I've looked all over for an equivalent product - can't find it at all  :(

Thanks for the reply though.

It is true. A couple of years ago I have tried to find something similar to old GW flock - ie soft and ball-shaped. I bought some from GF9, Noch and WS - nothing similar at all. Now I use a mix of WS and Noch.

Yes, I'm looking for a small quantity to base a few extra Empire and Tomb King units, to finish off those armies.

I've got a very small amount left from years ago but not, I fear, enough to do all the units. I might just do the Empire units, 5 of them, I've maybe got enough for them.

If not, I'll just have to use another single colour green flock I've got. It's nowhere near the old GW stuff but if I brigade those units it might not be so obvious. It's that or reflock about 120 bases to get them all matching!

Bit of Lateral thinking
Some of the railway hobby shops might be worth a visit.

OFC you may have tried that already

Hmm, good idea. There's one about 10 minutes drive from me I think. A quick spin over there this weekend - thanks for the suggestion  :D.

I buy 99 percent of my scenic items from model railway shops.

A pretty successful journey to the local model shop!

From a rather large choice, I've bought a bag of Javis Premier Fine Turf Dark Green ref JFT3. £1.75 - bargain!

It's very slightly darker than the bit of GW flock I still have but the texture is the same. It could be that the GW stuff has faded over the years? It is over 10 years old.

And many thanks to the very helpful guys at Marcway models http://www.marcway.net/  :D
