Capital ship squadroned with escorts

So lets say I have 1 Dominator squadroned with 4 swords. I position the swords in between my cruiser and the enemy fleet, there is now no way for the enemy to shoot past the swords because of the squadron rules correct?

Unfortunately only ships of the same 'type' may squadron together. So cruisers can only squadron with other cruisers (and Battlecruisers) and escorts can only squadron with other escorts.
