Eldar Shining Spears (kit bashing)
« on: March 29, 2010, 02:55:12 PM »
I have loads of jet bikes that I will never use.
Before I shell out for some shining spears has anyone tried converting the standard jetbikes to represent these models?

Pics/walkthrough appreciated.

I haven't done such a conversion, but it seems to me that a bit of plastic rod and few dots of greenstuff might make an acceptable spear haft, tip, and arm to hold it.

You could use clothing pins for the spears too, just watch out while picking them up :P. The HE Spearmen test I did with them has proven to be extra pokey.

Thanks for those.
I had sort of guessed how to do the spear bit, it is the aerilons on the side of the bikes that I was wondering about.

The backpack fins from 40k-scale eldar guardians can be doctored fairly easily into jetbike wings. A much cheaper alternative is to make the wings out of plasticard strip.

Either way you go, the process will be fiddly and time consuming.

Should be pretty easy with plasticard strips. I've seen them in pre-cut widths that should work for the fins.

Styrene rods and card stock is what I've seen used.

I had a dig through the bits box and found some old dark elf crossbows.
So hacked these up and trimmed down the bolts.

Here are the results.

Not as nice as the originals I will grant you, but a heck of a lot cheaper and they have used up some of my surplus Jetbikes :)
It wasn't even that fiddly a job and 12 of them took no more than 30 minutes.

Next task find a way to proxy avengers and SM assault and devastator marines as I don't fancy buying of full pack just for these models :(
