IG Dropship and lander proxies?
« on: February 11, 2012, 07:23:46 PM »
Another proxy question here. Thinking of playing out some new campagin scenarios with the local group in a few weeks for a planetary invasion story (think Omaha beach with Leman Russ' instead of shermans  ;D) and need some feedback on everyone's thoughts on these from DRM:

First off we have a rule about proxies in our local group:
1. It must be a model and painted - no "this red dixie cup here is the Leviathan command center and the blue pen there is..."
2. It must be theme correct - no "those Orge GEVs are really chimeras and that over there is a hovertank..."
3. It must be size correct, with exceptions for old GW minatures which were notorious for being size craptastic

So with all that being said anyone have any input on these on a tabletop? Really hate to purchase them and they end up sucking ass. I've had good time with their Jungle Troops and was pretty happy with them.

thanks

DRM has good products and get good reviews.  I've only ever heard minor complaints and very few of those.

There's a DRM section on Tactical Command and it includes some size-comparison threads that have some relatively close shots.  I'm sure you can find additional pictures around.  If you find a group shot their infantry figs are closer to true 6mm than GW's, so you might want to keep that in mind.

Looks like the Andrayada Battleship from their Hostile Stars range might fit the bill too. IMO it needs more work to make it fit in (probably some small kit bashing for turrets and some plasticard details).
dimensions are Length: 12.5cm (end to end), Width: 7.5cm

The Andy Battleship is a huge chunk of lead. By eye, it's larger than a FW Tau Manta.

I really like Pax 'Eagle' Dropship although I don't have one just yet. I do have a Hyperion, although it is unassembled/unpainted if you want any pictures or details on it.

Posting a pic of it (even unassembled) next to say a current land raider or rhino (or even a infantry stand) would be great for me and anyone coming along later :)

note: current LR (3) and Rh1 (2) have gone through less casts than say chimeras and Leman Russ's. I've gt 4 different versions of each in my IG alone so IMO they don't make for good comparisons.

I know there's some threads on TacCom that have some EW, GW, and DRM minis for sizing but nothing too new last I've checked. Linking for community benefit

PS and yes that andy BB looks heavy enough to double for my gym membership. dont even want to contemplate the postage on that!
