Click here to download Map, Icons and RulesThe reason for the post is to show you what is available and give you the tools to experiment, the rules are up to you, but here is a simple set for starters. Warmaster CampaignComponents - Map
1 map split into many areas called Provinces
CountersRed 1 City & 2 Towns, Province Ownership Markers, 1 Mounted Army, 5 Armies, 1 Supply Train
Blue 1 City & 2 Towns, Province Ownership Markers, 1 Mounted Army, 5 Armies, 1 Supply Train
(Town Markers need to be duplicated, Province Ownership Markers need about 10 copies)
To StartPlayers roll dice, highest picks a Province and places his Capital, typically near a corner, then the next highest places his Capital. Then the first players places a Town or Owner Marker, then the second places a Town or Owner marker etc.
Place one 2000 point Army on your capital and one 1000 point Army on each of your Towns.
Capitals start with Stone Wall(3T) other towns have Wooden Palisade(1T)
Players must keep track of their own points under each army marker, so a degree of trust is required. Optional, password protected zip files could be emailed to the opposition and the password given when it is required to prove the army points. Battles are usually fought with uneven points and the biggest points must attack. The smaller points player lays out the battle board and the attacker chooses which side to attack from. Maximums per sideMaximum number of armies, +1 Army per Capital City owned, +1 Army per Town owned, +1 Army per 5 provinces owned (also include Capital & Town Provinces, so to start you can only have 4 Armies on the map, claim another 5 Provinces to add an Army)
1 Army can be upgraded/swapped to a Mounted Army (Cost 1T) (This can only have Cavalry and Monsters in it)
Only 1 Supply Train is allowed
Maximum points for an army is 2000
The Turn Sequence per YearAdministration - Collect Taxes & spend Talents
Spring Season - Armies Move
Summer Season - Armies Move
Autumn Season - Armies Move
Winter Season - Armies Move
AdministrationT=Talents these can be spent anywhere in your Empire (has an ownership marker in that Province)
Each City raises 3T per Administration
Each Town raises 2T per Administration
Silver Mines raise 1T per Administration
Gold Mines raise 3T per Administration
Talents1T buys 50 points of troops for your Army, these are placed in one of your Town/City. Armies cannot exceed 2000 points.
Increase Fortifications from Nothing -> Wooden Palisade(1T) -> Wooden Fort(4T) -> Stone Wall(9T) -> Stone Fort(16T) A Stone Fort will take 4 years and 30 Talents to build. Only one Fortification upgrade is allowed per year.
Buy a Supply Train(5T), allows quicker movement through enemy provinces.
Initiative or who moves first Each season, each side rolls a D6, highest moves 1 army then the opposition moves one army and so on until all armies have moved, then all battles are resolved in contact order. If the dice are the same, odd game turns Blue has the initiative , on even turns Red does. (B before R)
Armies Movement AllowanceSpring Season – have 3 MP (Movement Points)
Summer Season – have 4 MP
Autumn Season – have 3 MP
Winter Season – have 2 MP
Enemy ReactionsWhen an army enters a province containing an enemy army, the enemy army must either:
Fight a battle.
Be besieged only if there is a Town or City in the Province
Retreat, by moving to an adjacent Province owned by the retreating Army.
SiegesA besieged town or city has enough food to last the following number of Seasons based on its walls, a Wooden Palisade (1 season), Wooden Fort (2 seasons), Stone Wall (3 seasons), Stone Fort (4 seasons). When this time is up the besieged town or city will surrender.
A besieger can assault, this costs -1 MP.
Use any agreeable method for resolving sieges.
