Valkyries

I'm just looking over the Norse army list and trying to decide what to model next...

I'm probably missing something, but I can't see why anyone would take valkyries. They're a unit of 3 'monsters' with completely average statistics that can be summoned to a table edge on a successful shaman command role. Yet they're double the points cost of bondsmen with the same stats.

What have I missed? The special rules mention 'home back' which implies they can fly, but there's nothing in the description to suggest that.  If that's the case, they're only slightly better than the 80 point Pegasus Knights.

I agree with your analysis, the cost seems excessive to me. Thank you

Well, Valkyries are obviously ment to be a flying unit as they always have been. Somehow we failed to put it there explicitly. Will take care of it in any possible update.
For the best flying unit in the game that can enter play in any turn from any table edge the point cost is pretty fair. Also it is not ment to be an ultimate must-have weapon rather a flavour issue. Anyway comparing flying monster-like based unit with core infantry is pretty misleading.

Ah... that clears things up a little. So given that they're monsters they're based with the short edge in front, so that helps too.
