[WM] Empire projects
« on: November 04, 2009, 11:47:01 PM »
Hi all,

This is my first post, but I have been lurking around for some time. My brother is jchaos79 and I use to play WM with him and also discuss the news and threads from the forum. As him I am interested in WMF,BOFA, and WMA.  ;D

Inspired by the painting pics of the forum I have painted my first WM unit. Hope more will follow soon.

I am planing also to paint some units for Empire, Witchhunter army, Dogs of War army and Italian Wars.

Very interesting and nice forum. I am learning a lot of rules clarifications and new ideas for WM.

Cheers!!
Ed

Hello Ed,
Hope to see some pics of your work soon.
The witchhunter army looks interesting and I have only ever seen one done.
Dogs of war is a great looking army with lots of modelling opportunities :)

Will you be joining the next round of the tale of painters?

Hi,

I am planning yet how to build the WH army. The DoW is almost built with pikemen, etc. I am painting an elephant and some other few units.

I would love to join the Tale of the Painters,  is it necessary to start the army from zero?

The main problem for me is going to be to keep the pace of the Tale (Azrael, you're the Ussain Bolt of WM, painting units four by four!!! :D ). Anyway, I think I'll be able to paint one per week.

I'll make a planning for an army and try to join in December!!

Don't worry about how long it takes to paint something. If I'm lucky I can only sneak in 1/2-1 1/2 hours of painting in each evening, and once I've made my cup of tea, eaten a few biscuits and so on it ends up being even less than that... So the end result being that I'm on a rate of roughly one unit a month, more like one every 1 1/2 months really... I'm still plugging away though, and have almost completed my first actual unit...

Like Stomm says, you paint at your own speed.
I get quite focussed  :P and it becomes an obsession.
As for starting from zero, not at all.
Just state what you plan to do and how many units you intend to do within the timeframe.
Some of my Orcs were already done and I know others have bought a lot of theirs prepainted.

Thanks Ale

That was the idea. I was thinking of painting it only in two colour scheme (black and yellow) as many of the WHF Empire cities have (i.e. Altdorf red & blue). But once with the brush in hand I prefered to try a multicolor clothing, as Imperial landsknechts armies and also fits great with fantasy Empire.

I love landsknechts (in spanish -I am from Argentina- we say it "lasquenetes"). I collect historic miniatures in 28mm, 30mm, 54mm and 1/72 scale and the Empire's Army is like a Renaisance german army (1490-1550 the date is not exactly).

Bye.

Yes, I know them as "lasquenetes" too (I am from Spain  ;)), and they are one of the most colourful historical armies you can find to paint. I started to build a 1/72 Renaiscence army (plastic manufacturers) years ago, but I moved to WM to get the mass and scale of great battles on the table, along with the WM rules.

We are currently painting and playing some Italian Wars battles (Jchaos left a Pavia battle report somewhere in the forum).

But I also like Fantasy, and the chance to play battles between Renaiscence troops and goblins or skeletons is just great and fun. As you say, Empire is based on XVI century European armies, and the figures are perfect to be used also in WMA. Empire is one of my favourite armies, and I would like to build some "spin-off" armies from its figures: DoW, Witchhunter, Kislev, Conquistadores, ECW, 30YW.... too many things and very little time....

I will choose one and try to join the Tale in December

Saludos!
