Thank you. I think basing is almost more important than the paintjob itself. It can make bad minis look way better than the other way round.
For all minis I just used two types of modelling sand mixed together. One is quite fine (about 1/3mm) and the other one is about 1mm in diameter and looks more rocky. I think it's used as coal chunks in model railroads. Not sure anymore. After a black undercoat I painted it scorched brown, strong drybrush with bestial brown and light drybrush with bleached bone. The gras is summer gras by "Noch". The Elves got the same sand mix but just painted black, codex grey, fortress grey and white. The base edges were painted bestial brown. Ah, I almost forgot. I used a white wood glue/water mix 60:40 and a little bit of dish detergent for the sticky job. Hope I could help you.
