I've got a small pile of wound markers I would like to trade for dwarf wound markers; also a pair of chaos hounds.

Not WM; but I probably have some FOW stuff to- SS infantry company, some PZIV (from box set), some other odds and sods...

----

Would it be possible for someone to bring some super glue and kicker to the event? One objective fell apart on a car trip... flying in I have little hope for it staying in one piece...

OK, I will be contacting all participants this weekend to see if they are still coming.  I've had one person drop out and another join, so I have 13 participants and 1 open slot.

I'll post a new tally by Monday.

Lex,

Let me know if we should move the result of the tournament to another thread elsewhere on the forums.

A quick update:

9 people showed up.  Brian bowed out so that I could play.

Dave was the winner with a High Elf Tournament force, with 2 wins and 1 draw.  Chris with the Dwarves was a close second, with 2 wins and 1 loss.

I really enjoyed meeting everyone there, and hope you all come again.  Chris came from Raliegh, North Carolina for the tournament!  Tristan drove 3.5 hours from Vermont!  Dedication!

I am happy to report that the Warmaster community picked up as manya as three new players.  While showing the game to Brian at the shop on Friday night, one of the other gamers was very taken with the game.  Since it was a teaching game for Brian, he is a new player.  My friend Ian finally purchased his own miniatures, so I count him as a new player also.

Reports and pictures in thread are OK !
Breakdown of armies and scores (where possible with estimated XP lvl of player) also appriciated
And any "house" or "event" rules used, as well as any "hot" issues that came up during play and how they where handeled...!!

Good to hear that everyone had a good time and that you picked up more "acolytes", from experience we know that when putting the game "in the open" it WILL apeal to many (experienced) players !

Here's my High Elf list:

8 Spearmen
4 Archers
2 Silver Helms
2 Reavers
2 Chariots
2 Bolt Throwers
1 General
2 Heroes
2 Wizards

My first game was a standard game against Tristan's DE. My Cav/Chariots managed to kill enough units to be two shy of break while only losing a stand or two in total. I just couldn't manage to get the last two kills though and Tristan rolled into me with his Cold Ones. I finally got break but my expensive units were gone and the VP difference was around 170 points I think, so a draw. Memorable moments included a Cold one charge that bounced off a Spearman unit's flank, another that bounced off a Chariot flank, and Tristan's general stabbing himself after a blunder :P.

The second game was King of the Hill against Ian's Undead. Ian rolled high for most of the game, good for his attacks, not so much for his command. His chariots managed to mess mine up pretty bad but I got to shoot them up a bunch after. My Reavers got a horrible 3d6 roll and ended up in a horrible position, but they lived thanks to a failed command roll. By the end of the game I had 20 something to Ian's 10 something units on the Hill for the win.

My last game was against Chris' Dwarfs, I forget the name of scenario but you set up in opposing corners and had to move objectives off the board. I grabbed two early on but couldn't order the units off to save my life. Meanwhile, the Dwarfs managed to outrace my infantry to the woods and proofed difficult to shift. The battle was going pretty bad for me until I managed to get my Silver Helms in on three units flanks with Light of Battle. They rolled them up pretty good. We had to the call the game due to time and I won by 250ish after finally getting my two objectives off. Had it gone another turn it probably would have been a draw.

All and all, it was a fun time. I look forward to doing it again and having some of my pokey elves painted. :P

My first game was against Chris' Dawrves.  On turn 2, Chris had 2 units of cannon on a hill, brigaded with 2 units of rangers.  Two other brigades od Dwarf warriors were on the hill as well.  His line was anchored to the board edge on my left.  I tried to go right to attack the exposed end of his line.  On turn 3 a 2 units of Hounds tried their luck against a brigade of Dwarf Warriors on the plain, and 1 unit of hounds tried the attack against a unit of rangers on the hill.  (There was another attack that I got off that turn but I do not remember what units attacked which dwarves.)  Unfortunately, I resolved the attack against the ranger first.  They won because they were defended and made their saves.  Once they wiped out the hounds, they fell back right behind the hounds that had yet to fight.  My hounds lost that fight and died because they had nowhere to retreat to.  Much of the rest of the game was a blur of trying (and mostly failing) to get into a good position.  Critical command rolls failed to go off, leaving lighter units to attack the Dwarf warriors unsupported, which did not help.  The end result was a resounding Dwarf win.

My second game against Gary's Empire troops went much better.  The scenario was to have the most number of stands on the central hill.  Gary deployed two units of cannon on a hill in the center, with infantry on either side, and some cavalry on each flank.  On turn 1, my cavalry/chariots/hounds moved twice each (two brigades worth) under direction of the general.  The infantry brigades moved close to the centerline of the board on my right.  Empire was able to move some infantry units forward, but his cavalry on each flank refused to budge.  On my turn 2, I took the open fill in the center and prepared my infantry for either a charge or cannon fire.  The General's inspired orders saw that each of the cavalry brigades got off 3 successful orders each!  One brigade smashed at the Empire cavalry, a unit of hounds attacked his cannons.  The second brigade were able to charge the infantry units in front of the cannons.  Combat went my way.  I was able to eliminate a unit of handgunners and a unit of pistoliers that were brigaded with 2 units of knights, and managed do some damage to the knight units.  The infantry in front of the cannons were destroyed, and the attackers advanced in the cannons.  The cannons then were destroyered.  On the following turn, the Empire knights on the left charged the remants of the cavalry that attacked them.  On the right, the Empire Knights cam forward to get ready for an attack on my infantry on the ground.  Turn 3 was short, but the Empire was unable to get close to the center hill, and so lost the battle.

The third battle was a scenario in which each side had to try to rescue (or capture) wouned leaders.  Each player had two leaders (objective markers) that he positioned before deployment, one per table quarter.  Armies set up from deplyment zones anchored in opposing table corners, reaching 60cm out from the corner.

My thrid battle was against the Vampire Counts.  One of the VC objective markers was on the edge of his deployment zone, so the VC army had a unit touching during deployment.  The Daemons had 3 objective markers fairly close to their deployment zone.  On turn 1, a VC commander was unable to order a unit of Zombies to move the marker.  (We postulated that the Zombies may have been trying to eat, rather than save, their commander.)  The VC player was able to come forward a bit.  The Daemon army was able to grab one objective located in a forest, came close to a second, and was able to move the cavalry brigades toward the center.  On turn 2, the zombies again did not move as they decided whether or not to eat the wounded commander.  The VC army moved a little more toward the center, but only a few command rols went off.  On turn 2, the Daemons had two objective markers and had cavalry on the central hill with the last unclaimed marker.  On turn 3, VC got closer to the hill, but units were stranded in bad positions when the key command rolls did not go off.  The Daemons made the most of it, getting off some charges on initiative and getting some orders off.  The dice also abandoned the VC player in combat.  A few turns later, the VC army was at the break point, having lost 12 units.  The Daemons lost 3 units.  My hat goes off to my opponent for his sportsmanship in the face of bad die rolling.  This was a resounding victory for Daemons.

45 pictures uploading to flickr. I'll be writing up the battle reports tomorrow...

highlights:
1. The Dispell scroll worked its goodness against a five caster army... okay, exceptionally bad dice luck worked better. Poor Ed, you would think with 5 wizards you would get ONE spell off a game....
2. Epic cannon love ala fancy targeting via lotharie's (in)famous article.  Only bad spot was when I ran out of targets.   :)
3. Pointy-eared dress-wearing pansies stole my beer. Oh, and defaced my ancestor's statue. Did I mention stealing my beer? A GRUDGE has been entered my book of Grudges. Vengeance Will Be Had On Dave's Dress-Wearing Pansies. It was the bright shiny silver paint job that distracted me....   :o

uploading overnight...

but the link to the pictures (unedited/named for now)
