Scavvies: Playable soon?
« on: July 27, 2009, 03:44:16 PM »
I was wondering if there is anthing in the works to make Savvies playable again?  Really it would likely only be a small tweak to money earned or something.  I'd just like to be able to have a chance with my nasty gang again!

What do you mean? I'm playing with the latest rules, and it's fine so far. They only make d3 per person, and pay out 2 per person for food, but you get money based on which missions you run. Do scavenging missions and you can get some money, or the one where you rob the opponent of 6 loot counters. That kind of thing. Don't expect to get money besides from loot counters or whatever special money you get from a scenario.

You don't even need the terribly broken caravan raids. We disallowed them in my campaign, due to the brokenness it may cause.

I agree with Ravendas, Scavvies have been designed to force you into taking those risks to earn your crust. They are desperate bandits after all and can't exactly set up a bar in the middle of a settlement like the beautiful people.

My Scavvies earn a decent crust every game and if I can convince my group to let me do a caravan raid I can easliy hire a few extra bodies for the huge end gang fights.

Scavvies are a difficult gang to play, you can't rely on your kit to get the job done and have to run the risk of closing the gap and bogging the enemy down with numbers. The lack of funds adds depth to their play style, making you rethink the way you play, whic is exactly the point of an Outlanders gang. I will admit they do have their drawbacks however, such as the Leadership test at the beginning of every game but they are far from comletley broken.
