2000p High Elves vs Undead
« on: June 25, 2012, 10:56:33 PM »
I just had finished 75% of a battle report of a nice game I had with Dave who came all the way to Germany. But after 60 minutes I had a timeout and had to relogin and everything was gone. Now I'm not in the mood to write the report anymore.  >:(
Dave had very bad dice rolls due to the jet lag of his general (4 double sixes with his general in the whole game and after that he resigned) and for me everything worked out perfectly. I think 4 of 5 raise dead made it through and the important orders succeeded all. A couple of doom and despair combined with the bad dice rolls gave the high elves the rest. With this bad mobility they had no chance.

Here are just the pics:

Thanks for the pics!

Great armies, and is nice to see Dave's HE battling in Germany. Too bad those double sixes, the good new is that it won't happen again to you...

If I can ask, what are those "swords" in the seventh picture between the artillery brigade and the two stands of Silver helms?

Edmund:

Those are BOFA plastic eagles, mounted on clear acrylic flyer stands.

No, in middle left of the picture, beyond the artillery brigade of the hill. They seem markers...

LOL,  I had to look 3 times, but they are indeed Eagles based on clear stands !!  in the next picture there are "less" of them and at a slightly different angle they are easier to recognize !

It seems that the first charge involving 2 silverhelms + chariots  against   2 cavalry + chariot + dragon +sphinx ended with the evaporation of elves and very few damge for the undead.

I do not use to play with dragons:so.. do you think the dragon is the piece needed to win the charge or do not matter too much the presence of the dragon to get this result?

@JChaos79

A general on a dragon adds five attacks, it's like having 2 extra stands attacking on your behalf, so it can really tip the balance.  In addition it's Terrifying, which makes a big difference on To Hit rolls.

It's nice to see my figs from the front for a change. Most of my pics of them are of their backs.

Dom's terrain and army were awesome, but as he said my General was too busy catching up with lost sleep on his dragle to be of much use to me. Still a good game though, I think I committed my cav too early however.

Germany was great. More people should go there and play games with Dom/vacation. While you're there keep an eye out for Schreiber-Bogen paper models, they have a bunch of 1:160 paper castles that would look nice on a WM table. I got one.

@ Dave: Thanks again for coming to my place and the great game with your beautiful army. Could you post or send me some of your pics? Because I forgot to change my camera settings and all pics were shot only in VGA resolution.

I think I committed my cav too early however.
Later in the game you wouldn't have had the dice rolls to commit them anyway. So charging the infantry brigade was the best you could do.  ;D

To make things more clear. The undead brigade charged the high elf brigade which destroyed two units of skeleton infantry in the field before. The elves' fall back roll was bad and so they were stranded in the field and ready to be charged. I just added the zombie dragon to minimize losses although they would have made it without him aswell. Especially with the chariots in the flank. So the undead destroyed one unit of chariots and silver helms each for no losses. Ok there were some lucky saves too iirc. If the high elves had charged me it would have looked quite different.

Thanks for that!
