Something is wrong with the forum
« on: September 26, 2012, 09:36:59 PM »
5Hey guys,
I guess still someone must remember me  ::).
Well I haven't been in the forum since you change it. The reason is because I can´t. Everytime I tried to log in it said me that It is under repair.
Accidentally I found a separate link to the page again yesterday I was surprised the page not was just running but I has been running for these 3 months.
Just in case I am not the only one  sufering this I tell whoever is in charge. People cannot access directly to the page as far as I know from Germany.

And of course I am back :D

I've just asked a moderator to move this for you.

Are you sure that you weren't mixing up the two addresses?  There is an old one which is very similar which takes you here, and the Specialist Arms Forum Index Page, which I haven't had any issues with.  I'm only saying this because I've mixed up the two addresses in the past, so it's easily done.

yea I think that was the problem. But the thing is that if you look for specialist games forum in google it will send you to http://www.sg.tacticalwargames.net/ instead of http://www.forum.specialist-arms.com.

Por cierto bonita firma ;) como me duele no estar en la patria

Yes, I see why you've had a problem now.  The link hasn't been updated.  That's probably yet another job for CS to add to his list of things to do.

Thanks for the note on this. As far as I can tell, the issue is:

- When searching for 'Specialist Games forum' using Google, the top result is the home page for the old site, and there is a strong chance that people are going there instead of here, and finding it closed.

As an aside, the 'forum is closed' message does point people here. However, I can see how this would be confusing.

There are a number of aspects of this, as far as I can tell:

- There is only so much that I can do. Essentially, I will need to try to 'persuade' Google to drop the old listing and replace it with this new one. The easiest way to do this, would be to delete the old site and wait for Google to 'realise' that it is no longer there. I have kept the old site available initially in case there were issues with the transfer (its always good to keep the original available, just in case) but after all this time, I guess its OK.

I will take a look at this now.
Thanks.
