If I submit a single escort ship now, would I be able to include that ship as part of a squadron in a later competition? If I touch-up the paint, is it still ineligible in future competitions?

Just trying to decide if I should drop it in now, or wait until next year when it as some squadron friends and maybe the squadron code.

No problem, if you enter a ship this year it can be part of a fleet entry next year.
