What are the best Chaos Dwarf war machine proxies?
« on: December 25, 2013, 09:29:39 PM »
I was browsing the experimental army lists and wondered what people used for Chaos Dwarf lists for artillery.

The Eureka Hellmaw Cannon is perfect for the Earthshaker cannon battery:

I thought perhaps a Kallistra Ballistae would be the best thing for a bolt thrower.

But I'm drawing a blank for a death rocket.  I thought perhaps some old Epic Ork Pulsa Rokkits would work but those are now obviously quite hard to find.

By coincidence, I've recently been wrestling with this question.  Still work-in-progress, but I have used 3 of the rockets from the Warhammer rocket launcher.  Bought as bitz, 'stick' bit trimmed down to just over a centimetre and then glued to a WM base with the rockets pointing at roughly 45 degrees upwards.  When the work progresses further, I'll post a pic.

Good answer! I rather like that idea.

I was thinking that the Roman British Ballistae would be great for the Bolt Throwers:

Haven't confronted the Bolt-thrower question so can't offer advice.  Decided that with an army that probably won't have a very high break point, a third flavour of vulnerable artillery probably wasn't necessary.  So have only gone for one rocket and one cannon.

I suppose the most pressing concern now I can think of is how to differentiate Orc Slaves, Black Orcs and Hobgoblins.

Respectively I would use Copplestone Orcs, Half Orcs and Orcs with Bows.

I've bought some Chaos Dwarves as a "bolt-on" to a Slaanesh Deamon/Mortal Chaos army.  The Daemons are the core and they will proxy as Marauders in the mortal list.  Therefore with the CD list, Daemons proxy for Black Orcs and the Bull Centaurs.  Using Copplestone Orcs for Hobgoblins (mounted and bows).  Haven't gone for any Orc slaves but might ponder the options.
