Yes, but unlikely that I will get to the BFG stuff in time for submission.  Next year though I  should be  good.

I say go ahead rather than not
I am also unlikely to have a BFG submission but will likely have an alternate model for submission

Okay then.

Regarding submissions: instead of pre-set categories I want to open to all kind of entries, then after all is in I will decide on categories. (If it is needed).

Good or daft?

Sorry for the n00b question but how does it work? Is the comp online or limited to a physical event?

I think that you need to be careful that you dont pitch a fleet against a single ship. The painting styles are often different when tackling these two types of submission. A fleet often as to uniform and good from further away while each ship gets maybe 1/10 of the time, while a single ship can be a centrepiece mini and very intricate that would be lost in the middle of a fleet, and which can have the entire time spent on it.

Is this thing also going to get coverage on Tactical Wargames? I noticed that the place doesn't really have a BFG modelling section anymore. :(

TacCom has shifted focus onto the ground warfare games in small sizes.
At that point Cybershadow & co decided to split of BFG and have BFG its main residence on here. On TacCom it was a complete niche forum in the end.

But thanks! And I will go ahead and announce GothiComp 2014!

Hey, see the other thread.

The Submission
To submit a picture of your vessel to this competition, you simply mail it at: comps@tacticalwargames.net

Make sure the header of the email contains the following: ship name / class name

Note that you do not have to be a member of the
http://specialist-arms.com
http://www.forum.specialist-arms.com/index.php?wwwRedirect
boards to enter this competition but in order to vote you will have to sign up.

We will compile a gallery of the entrants which will be available online. This gallery will remain as a permanent fixture to the site, and so you will be able to browse the pictures in the future. Please note, I am sure that there will be a rush in the last 24 hours before the end of this competition, therefore please don't wait until the last few hours if you can avoid it.

Thus an email at : comps@tacticalwargames.net

Is there likely to be categories (or awards within categories) specifically for scratch-build, kitbash, and proxy models? I know we're supposed to be looking at painting quality, but that's not the only thing on display, and with the lack of new models we're likely to see an increase in these types.
Quite crucial to be able to tell minefields and rally points apart...

Hey,

From the rules thread:
Quote
In addition, there will be a 'conversion prize' chosen from single ship & one hit category. This will be a token prize for one entry based on the skill and style of any conversion work which has gone into the vessel, in an effort to encourage creativity in modelling as well as painting. This will be judged by a select panel. All entries are automatically submitted into both competitions simultaneously. The judges for the conversion prize are myself, Cybershadow and a third person.

Thus, as always: a jury picks best conversion. All ships entered into the ship/one-hit category automatically particpate in the conversion category.

So, that means, voters vote because of paint, jury judge conversion.

And the third person will be Mangozac this year.
