Glad to see more Empire troops joining  ;D. That makes eight of us which is far better than I'd hoped.

Greetings!

PW was very kind and allowed me to take part in the Tale. Thanks! :)

My contribution is 2000 point High Elves army and unfortunately I have some units painted already. My plan is to have following units painted:

General, 2 Mages and Hero on Dragon

4 units of Spearelves
4 units of Archers
4 units of Reavers
4 units of Silver Helms
2 "units" of Great Eagles

I will upload pictures of painted and unpainted miniatures as soon as possible (i.e. some time this week).

I started to collect, paint and play with Warmaster miniatures 6 years ago, but had a longer break in the meantime. I would like to use the opportunity to participate in this project to go back to the hobby properly. And start painting miniatures on regular basis. I will elaborate on painting scheme later, when I upload the pictures.

Cheers! :)

Well I'm not far off finishing my first three bases of halberdiers but I'm on holiday right now and forgot to bring any basing materials so they won't be ready to photograph until the weekend.

So, in the meantime, a couple of questions -

1) Can anyone think of a good transfer to use for the Empire banners? (I don't think there's a GW Empire one now but was there ever?) I"m guessing some of the 40K sheets will have skulls/crosses I could use.

2) More ambitious, I'm thinking that in the long term I'd like my army to be led by some of Sigmar's righteous Warrior priests and I'm wondering if anyone can suggest a base model to make a Warmaster version of this chap:

I use ultramarine transfers for empire.
As for the model, try DaveC and a lot of pleading :)

Try DE character on foot model with a halberd from DE Character blister (need a lot of work but I can't find anything closer)

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll check my SG catalogue when I get home as the DE hero doesn't show up on the GW online store. Having just rooted through what I've got with me I'm wondering if I might get away with bits from a flagellant and one of the armoured halberdiers... Certainly the flagellants are 'heroic scale' enough to be characters.

As for asking DaveC, well, maybe when the army is worth of support I'll go cap (and cash) in hand. For now though I don't think my half painted unit of halberdiers deserves that kind of help!

Hi guys!

Im throwing my lot into the mix now, im aiming for 2500pts of Dogs of War but I will start with the first 1000pts and go from there. Its going to be a slightly more shady version of dogs of war specialising in more low down races and instead of coming from Tilia it will mainly hang out in the badlands.

The list is:

1x Disreputable General
1x Wizard on Griffon (Will be some far sillier flying beat though)
4x Pikemen
2x Archers
2x Knights
1x Galloping guns
1x Birdmen

In the 2500pts list it will include a giant (Dogs of war should have a giant) and as I recently painted him up I will stick him in as my first weeks painting. So presenting Sergei the Giant!

Oh and PW for the Warrior Priest if you can get hold of any old Teutogen Gaurd from the empire range, one of them with a head swap would be perfect for the warrior priest. Sadly as they are now out of production they are more valuable than gold.

1) Can anyone think of a good transfer to use for the Empire banners?

I used transfers for medieval / renaissence heraldic banners. I think they fit well, usually have griffons, crowns, etc... What a mess! I can not find them to tell you the name of the manufacture. I bought them as a rest in a model shop, so the manufacturer could be quite old. But I am sure there are medieval/renaissence banners out there.

When I found them I will post the name. If it is needed I will make pics.

Well, the figure of the emperor (Karl Franz) has a big hammer and is shaved, but is raiding a horse. I Could fit well (I could make a pic if its needed).

So presenting Sergei the Giant!

I like it a lot the choice of the giant, it is full of dynamic and movment. I also like the 3 days stubble (does he shave himself with a doble handed sword?  :P)

Greetings!

Here are some pictures of units which are already painted or almost finished. I apologise for poor quality of pictures. I will replace them as soon as I manage to take better ones. I think that yellow background colour comes from the use of not so strong lamps. I believe that when I try to take these pictures in day light they might be much better.

Archers 1

Archers 2

Spearelves 1 - not finished yet

Spearelves 2

Silver Helms 1

Silver Helms 2 - base not finished

Army so far

I chose gold and blue as main colours. Even armour is silver-blue. The inspiration comes from the cover of old army book for Warhammer High Elves (4th edition I guess). The sign at shields and standards, according to some guide for elven rules, is associated with elven kingdom of Saphery - where the greatest elven mages can be found. It is also a place where White Tower, home to Swordmasters  ;) is. Somehow I always liked to add some background to the armies I was building, even if a little childish it helped me to focus better and come up with some new ideas.

At the moment I am painting Phoenix Guard. Maybe not exactly matching the theme of Saphery, but I like the models. Gamewise it helps to distinguish between different units much easier.

I would appreciate any comments to the pictures, despite their poor quality. I find painting 10 mm miniatures very challenging, as I have to use completely different techniques I learned to succecfully paint their bigger cousins.

Cheers! :)

Nice to see so many additions!

Swordmaster:  I love the color scheme! The execution was great as well.

Angor:  Nice execution on Sergei.  What figure is that?  I despise the WM Giant and have opted for Bazuka for my O and G Giant.  He's too high tech for a WM Giant, but I really want to paint him and he's about the right size  ;D

I have managed to finish up the models, but not bases for a couple of units of Wolf Riders, I'll get the basing done this week, I hope.

Pictures will follow.

Swordmaster, the colour scheme is impresive. I like it. Last week I was painting a unit of elves also in gold and blue (what a coincidence), but I stopped the painting to start with undeads. When I take out the camara I will post the strip in jchaos79 project or maybe here if you considered appropiate. (but I have to say that your figures looks too much brighter, shiny and impresive that what the paint I was doing)

Maybe you could scheme the steps of the painting and the colours names you are using.

good work

Chaos,

No worries on the English, your thoughts are conveyed, they may not be as precise as you'd like, but I can understand them completely!
