Some Q
« on: July 12, 2015, 08:57:21 PM »
Over few recent games I came across some issues I wasn't sure about.

- the Fall back rule specifies you cannot end up your move closer than 1cm to the enemy. But I haven't found it anywhere else. Do you use this 1cm as a general rule or you just can end up your movement say 5mm from enemy?

- when I charge an infantry unit's rear that is however up the hill (or behind the wall), would you count it as defended?

Defended/Fortified only counts "when you see them comming"

FALL BACK is something that victorious units may do after winning a battle. They Fall Back 3d6cm, minimum of the lowest die rolled.

Do you mean RETREAT, which a unit that loses combat does? In that case, the loser retreats 1cm for every hit they lost by, divided by the number of units on their side involved in the fight.

Do you mean DRIVEN BACK units? This is done when hits from shooting are taken...in which case you are driven back 1d6cm per hit taken...

This is all referenced on p43 of Warmaster, I believe, taken from the "Combat Results" page.

I obviously didn't make myslef clear enought.

I'm talking here about ordinary movement in command phase. I haven't found any restriction that prevents me to end the movement with my unit 1 mm away from the enemy. The only restriction I've found is in Fall back rule, where is stated you cannot get closer than 1 cm away from the enemy. It feels however somehow logical, that this "1cm away" rule might be applied generally (cf. the "gap rule", where you can pass enemy units only if there is 1cm room on each side). So I was just wondering how you play it.

@Lex: that makes sense. Thanx!

I cannot find it either, though I think I remember reading that 1cm is the distance that must separate units...I could be wrong.

Only fall backs and evades have to end 1cm away based on the rules, there's no such restriction for normal movement. I can't think of a situation where being <1cm away is any different than being 1cm away though. It's effectively the same thing in Warmaster.
