Onward to 2017! Your goals and dreams....
« on: December 31, 2016, 05:57:03 PM »
I ask myself this every year, and write a list every year.  Typically, I have a 50% completion rate.

Some highlights for this year are:
1. Actually, maybe buy more than I did in previous years.
2. Keep making and playing games of my own!
3. Maybe get some of those games someplace useful
4. Keep exploring new game systems
5. Paint a few odds and ends

So, how about you?  What is on your list?

You can see the detailed list and photos on the blog...

Welp, adding your blog to my "blogroll" there. =)

For myself it's - keep on painting!  I have essentially agreed with myself that the only "new" games I might be buying will be GW doing specialist games again.  So that means, I've bought Blood Bowl --- but the new Adeptus Titanicus thing is too far from Epic to get my money.

I'm torn between ploughing through more Warmaster - making Epic or maybe trying to get two armies of SAGA made as a game I can take to other clubs...

I am currently in the middle of packaging all of my armies up.  Nice bags with custom foam and everything magnetized if possible.  Way back, 20 years now, I completed my first 40k army of orcs and never took it anywhere or played anyone other than my brother because I never physically could take it anywhere.  I don't want that to happen again.  I have a large craft table and a whole room in the house to craft but it is still a ton of work but I am determined to plow through it.

I want to finish up my warmaster bags, Man O'War bags and then move onto my Heroquest and Mighty Empires stuff.  And of course a tote box for my terrain.

Only after everything is ready to go on the road will I let myself move on to my last project for 2017 which is to properly finish my warmaster bases.

That sounds good, cb!

I kind of have half way transportation things where I have them magnetised in boxes.  It's not a permanent solution but it's good enough if you're just driving straight somewhere.

Are you finding it expensive to make / modify foam cases?  I always get cold feet before committing to a storage solution.

not nearly as expensive as collecting a warmaster army or man o'war fleet but all of the different materials are adding up now.  It was maybe 50  bucks to box up my 2 warmaster armies with minimum foam but I still need to get my chaos dragon in foam.  but from there, little things start to pop up.  I knew that having trays stacked up would end up with them shifting a bit and the tray on top would have a corner fall into the tray underneath it so now I will need to line my bags with Velcro and add some Velcro bits to one end of the trays to keep them from doing that, just adding up.  Oh and my tray for my warmaster markers spilled out but now I have a box lid for the tray, that took a week and some pretty good crafting.

Oh, and its way more work than collecting a warmaster army or man o'war fleet!  LOL
it's so much nicer showing up with a nice travel bag instead of a pizza box or something  ;)

its a ton of fun and honestly it makes the game so much better and quicker to set up, man o'war especially.

My brother was in the same boat as you stormwind until he saw my warmaster armies all magnetized.  He's sold on the magnetizing now.

I hadn't really thought about a goal for this year. Usually it's a case of "if anything gets done, it's a success!".

However getting my Gaming board done is top priority. Then I suppose making the effort to play some more games. Considering most of my gaming group is only 5-10mins away by car we should make more of an effort! More Gothic and more Inquisitor and maybe even a 54mm Necromunda game might be on the cards too if I get my way :D

Painting-wise however. No idea. I should really finish my Mr Blue project I started over a year ago.

My goal for 2017:

1) Painting warmaster armies (assirian, achaemenid persian, sassanid persian, skaven, iberian, late roman). I doubt I could paint 6 x 1000 points armies but that is my goal (around 75 units in 52 weeks).

2) Not buy more 10mm naked armies until I had paint above (well I think I am not going to fullfill this point too...)

3) Having some warmaster games with my brother (at least one fantasy + one WMA) and play a solo-warmaster-tournament.

After much comtemplating of this I want/intend to:

1) Partake actively in the Warmaster Rules Committee
2) Touch up my Dark Elves [WM] and paint up the final optional units for them
3) Keep working on the endless tide of Empire units [WM]
4) Sell off some old unused stuff (No Specialist Games stuff, sorry)
5) Paint a few additional units for my Eldar [EA]
