3D Printed Wood Elf Proxies
« on: June 06, 2020, 06:18:00 PM »
Some very high quality looking STL files for Warmaster scale Elves have appeared on this chap's Patreon:

https://www.patreon.com/forestdragon/posts

GW nudged him about how close they were to original Warhammer models but thankfully after changing them so they're not as close he's back!  A couple of folks have paid him enough to be allowed to sell his models themselves.  This is a UK one:

I think he also had some High Elf models but I'm not sure if those got the hammer from GW altogether.  I think with the Patreon pledges folks who contribute vote on which range they'd like him to proxy next.

At the moment he doesn't have a full army, but he does have several characters, tree spirits, spear men and some cavalry and they're all stunning.  Incredibly tempted to buy some already.

OK so - next months releases are essentially proxies for Wardancers, Glade Guard and Hawk Riders!  Absolutely love the scenic bases!

Yes!  It looks like they have a complete set of proxies for Wood Elves, including things for making your own tweaked list viz. Tree Kin and various Heroes.

The Vampire Counts proxies are almost complete, it looks like, to me?  I'm not sure what won the vote for the next army as I'm not a Patron, I assume Dark Elves from the comments?

They are so good I am tempted to sell my GW VCs and just buy these all 3D printed.

It’s all suddenly gone mental with printed warmaster proxy miniatures on line! You can get wood elves and vampire count armies and now there are elements of high elf, dark elf and dwarf forces too! I’ve ordered stuff from both Printing in detail and Excellent miniatures and the detail far surpasses the old GW miniatures. Highly recommended.

Excellent Miniatures has some sculpts from other sculptors at the minute which are growing in number.  Amazingly, they have some Dark Elf, Dwarf and Bretonnian proxies!

They even have some High Elf proxies that I hadn't seen before:

Does anyone know if these miniatures are durable? I am thinking about a vampire counts army but i don't want to get them if they will be fiddly and break spear tips and such. Also is it okay to remove the supports or does that lead to them being breakable? Are the supports just for the printing purposes?

Thanks,
Blind-

I only got a couple of units of dryads from PInD. They are a little brittle and need some care when removing supports. The supports are left on for transit and should be taken off before painting.
I think it depends on the resin used as some offer more flex from what I can gather. the light Gray stuff is fairly brittle. The won't fair as well in a fall as the metal. I don't have anything with spear tips but understand your concern here.
