Warmaster Skirmish Mod

Hi guys, I have been absent from the world of warmaster for a little while with precious time on my hands. Me and some friends came up with this new system to allow us to get more games in. I think we are onto something and have found them really enjoyable. We are planning to expand on them greatly. I put together this pdf to give to members of our local wargaming group to help get them into warmaster.

Any C&C is welcome.

Looks good, I have been planning a mighty empires based campaign for a while (need to buy it first  ???).
I think this will help keep momentum up in the campaign rather than 1 battle once a week we might get 3 or 4 in :)

Lex of course you can upload a version. Maybe if I put together a tweaked version of the for the next warmuster magezine it can be slotted in somewhere.

We have found that a regular game is about half the time to play. Objective based games can take longer.

We are still working on extra campaign rules for the game, allowing units to get slightly better with experience or characters devoloping over time. As these have barely been playtested and are still in the ideas phase I will not go on about them.

I always wondered if the EA Victory Conditions would be workable in Warmaster, going to have to give that a try.

Dave stole my thunder, but yeah, I like the incorporation of Epic victory conditions for WM. The rules look interesting.

They really change the game alot. I think for the better.

I re uploaded the file due to a typo concerning the cost of single stand warmachine units.

I always liked the different victory conditions in EA and WM. For me it just shows the difference between these "time periods".

I just dont think that WM really works with the objective based gameplay. I mean its fun but with the wrong armies meeting on the battlefield it can be an uphill match sometimes.
I prefer the original victory conditions of Warmaster as it fits more in my opinion.

Raider4. Thats why I chose this avatar. Try playing music and looking at it, get something with the right tempo and you can lose days staring at his little dance.

Guthwine. We havent come accross to many problems with the armies we have used so far. But it was inevitable that in some situations some armies would be better suited than others. Also by no means do you need to play with objectives or anything they were just an idea. Most of our games have been fought with the usual victory conditions, the objectives are just in there to add some spice to your games every now and again.

I like the skirmish mod, because you can play without that much painted. I am definitely gonna try it out, just wanted to state my opinion. :)

And I always thought the WM skirmish mod was known as Warhammer Fantasy. :D

Thanks for sharing this Angor, I'll certainly give this a go. Like Guthwine I'm not sure about the EA rules here, mainly because I'm an EA player and I like the fact that the two games are different. In my experience I've not really found the objectives in EA to create 'scenarios' as such, more that they determine tactics. If you're continuing to work on this set of rules then I'd vote for the inclusion of some fluff/story-based scenarios.

I think as not many of my warmaster buddies are epic gamers (Although we all have armies?) the objectives seemed like a novelty to us. I really do want to compile a list of scenarios, something along the lines of the warhammer skirmish book, with lots of random or funny scenarios. Ideally there will be some along the lines of the BoFA with fairly interesting rules (I really like the staggered approach of the goblins). We are also trying to make an Omaha beach/Battle for Osgiliath scenario with boats assaulting entrenched defenders. Lots ofd these scearios will have recommended armies for the match up, but hopefully any army will be able to play them.

If anyone has any ideas please let me know. If you can include the rules and and rough drawn maps I will try to put them together into a unified format for the rules pack. (I enjoy drawing maps so am happy to do them if given a basic outline)

It's funny you mention that, because when I Read through the document, the thing that occurred to me is the fact that the Chaos army presented, felt like it'd accurately represent about a 1500-2000 pointish army of Chaos (Or at least, old Chaos before it was split up).
