Length of WM-Games
« on: May 27, 2009, 07:49:50 AM »
Because the topic came up a few times in another post.
I am very interested how long and how many turns most of your Warmaster Games last.

I for my part came to like games of 2500 pts lately. I am able to put in everything I like considering troops and still will not meet 3 units of cannons ie. Those games last 4-5 hours.

Recently most games played are objective driven, which means you can play almost any amount of points and still have a game done in less then 4 hours (most of the time).

Objective scenarios are more-or-less derived from FOW  8)

We play standard 2k games; although hope to branch out to objective based games soon.  Generally the game lasts 4-5 turns and is completed within 2.5 hours.  Since my opponent switched to Undead, games have lasted longer (recently 6 turns with neither force broken) as we now both commonly have more than one turn of entirely botched orders.

At the beginning we use to campaings of 500 points, to explore a little bit armies and to learn the rules. They have a little history and sometimes payed on a boardgame map, with a very very simple homemade campaing rules. We played 4 or 5 battles in afternoon.

Then we used to play 1000 pts battles and it takes us 3-5 hours. We like the reflexive way ;D very slow game. We take pictures and make breaks to raid the fridge.

Latley we are playing the scenarios of the rule book and warmaster magazines.

I play with my brother at home, I have never played in a club or gw-store.

so that my way, only the rulebook and our interpretation, so I am enjoying a lot the effort of this community to see other interpretation of the rules, what are we doing wrong and the discussion. So thank you all

It´s depending on who I face on the battlefield.

Most of the games are finished by reaching break points of my opponents in 4th or maybe 5th turn. Seldom I have to goe 6 turns and recently some of the games and by a draw when facing our Dark Elf player.

When facing SpiritusX on the battlefield then usualy this games tend to be some kind of "Chess" ....very long lasting games of 4 to 5 hours as at the Euro GT in Bergen :)

Cheers
Claus

Yep, we played full 6 turns.....and I never will forget that strange dice rolls of mine in turn 3 (could not succeed to get a 25% hit quote with 40 dice)
