No problem. It was a fun game and I enjoyed writing the battle report as well.

Great report, we don't really see enough.
But I am one of those that finds the report taking to interfere with my gaming  :-[

Maybe that's why I lost. Yeah... that's it. :D

Actually, I only took pictures during the game itself. I did everything else from memory and believe me when your Giant goes wild and charges one of your own units... you remember!

I am trying out a new Daemon army list, and graymatterblues was the first victim.  The Overlord has a Ring of Magic, one Sorcerer has the Wand of Power, and the other Sorcerer has the Rod of Repetition (making him popular with the ladies, I'm sure   ;)).

The 'minor effect' that I received was that all units would pass the first order on the first turn.  I was careful to make sure that I could order all units the first turn.  It is rare when you can rely on being able to move everything!  So I made the most of it.

In the third turn of the game, the Overlord got off an obscene string of command rolls, which allowed him to bring a brigade of cavalry from my left over to my right and charge into the combats on Noose Hill and in the canyons.  I think at least 3 command rolls went off within 20 cm of an enemy.  This allowed me to decisively destroy the Wolf Riders.

I definitely like having more terrain on the board!

Another little quirk:  When I initiative charged the surviving Wolf Riders on Noose Hill on my turn, I lost a stand of swarms due to some good stand and shoot die rolls.  That was during the movement phase.  When the shooting/magic phase came around, I summoned a stand of daemon swarms back into the shot-up sawrm unit.  In the ensuing combat phase, two stands of swarms were destroyed.  At the end of combat, 1 stand survived.  This was odd.  The unit took 12 hits but was not destroyed!

It was a fun game.  My Daemons look forward to eating more Orcs on the battlefield in the future.

BlackEd,

I am interested since i also play daemons.
Pros and cons.

WMChaos:  I can't find my army list!  Well, from memory:

Daemonic OverLord, wizard upgrade, Ring of Power
Sorcerer, Rod of Repetition
Sorcerer, Wand of Power
Hero
3 Sawrms
6 Hordes
2 flyers
2 hounds
3 chariots
3 cavalry

The previous list had 1 more hound, 1 fewer Chariots and 1 fewer Cavalry units; in addition the previous list had 1 more hero.

In this list I dropped the extra hero, dropped the hounds and in exchanged added more magic and harder hitting cavalry.  This list will rely much more on initiative charges to get into fights with the enemy.

As I noted above, the Overlord had a long string of command rolls during the game.  And in general, the heroes were able to keep the army moving.  Compare this to my performance at Euro GT in which I had some brigades that wouldn't move for turns because of failed command rolls.

Maybe my overlord really needs a Crown of Command...

Thats a decent list, break 10, ATK over 500 and four characters.
But no scroll and no wings. Much needed in my opinion.

How do you match-up your brigades?

Hounds, i have never really found a good use for them.
To expensive for kamikaze-jobs. To weak, point-wise, compared to chariots and cav.
How do you use them? (cannon-fodder?)

Yep, really hate those "we-shall-hold-our-ground"-brigades. Lost hounds and beasts due to that in the last game. But taking the Crown, i dont know, it may be worth it.
