Soul Storm - Final - Kislev Siege
« on: April 10, 2011, 08:52:12 AM »
The Final Battles for the Soul Storm campaign have begun.
One of them has been played 9th of April: the Kislev Siege.

Be'lakor himself lead a massive assault against the main Kislevit city in hope to crush the main Empire ally.

The setup:
4905pts of Chaos (4500, plus a bonus since Chaos won most battles around Kislev since Turn 1).
2500pts of defenders, Kislevits plus some Dwarfs, leaded by the Ice Queen.
1000pts of Dwarf to be deployed out of the city when the city is breached.

We played with WMA rules, and WMM siege rules, both slightly modified to accomodate fantasy units.

The initial deployment:

A door well fortified:
(the chariots are to represent the +2 hit points of the door due to extra fortifications)

Quickly the Kislev knights get out of the city to breach the besiegers.
The 4 siege towers one the right flanc being very well protected with a screen of 2 chaos warriors and 2 maraudeurs, they charge the left flanc with all the infantry marching to climb the wall. The destroy 2 units of maraudeurs. But they will be obliterated the turn after thanks to the Dark Gods luck.

Be'lakor commands the engineers to fire the mines unders the walls and to shoot them with all artillery at once. This caused several walls and a tower to collapse, and 2 Kislev units to die with them.

The dwarfs (they entered the battlefield turn 1, after a first already-fragile wall had been collapsed) charge the rear left flank.

The chaos siege tower reach the walls and the chaos warriors claim the walls and pursue the kislevits inside the city.

The Dwarfs continue, destroying 2 harpies, 2 chariots and 2 artillery. Other battles outside the wall involve bears, chariots and dwarfs, but the decisive part is played inside the city: the chaos warriors destroy a full brigade of kislevits and most part of a second brigade.

The last stand of dwarfs protecting the gate is destroyed, and whim them the break-point is reached.
Kislev has fallen.

Chaos warriors proudly open city gates to their Dark Master:

May the onslaugth begin!

Yes, the castle is scratch built.

This tutorial can also be found within the Warmuster Issue number 2 (if I'm correct, that is the one with siege theme anyway).

Wow!!! brilliant  ;D

Fully painted armies, superb terrain, a good scenario. That looks like a very good game of warmaster.

How long did the game take to complete?

Something like 2h to setup the game (coud be done in 30min, but we've been discussing a lot ;) ) and 4h to play the game to a conclusion.
