Starting Araby
« on: August 30, 2011, 02:04:25 PM »
I have been collecting and playing GW games for a long long time now. When Warmaster was released for the first time I bought a high elf army and played quite a few games against orcs and dwarfs. However the gaming focus of our group quickly shifted back to Fantasy and my high elf army found its place in a small box...

Recently however a friend of mine got interested in playing warmaster again and I decided that its time to fulfill my long lasting dream; to buy an Araby army! :)

So since I have been absent from the game for a long time now I was wondering if the nice people on this forum could give me  some advice on what minis to buy for my first 1000 points of Arabyans...

Ahhhh    the joy ....  this one is REAL easy !

Look at the selector and make sure you get all the MINIMUM (and maximum) requirements for a 1k army met. By that and then just 1 each of all the stuff that is not mandatory. Should put you at around 1200-1500 pts, with some choices on army creation !

Well, that IS exactly the advise...

To play Araby at 1k you WILL need to adhere to the minimum compulsary units. So those you must buy anyway. And you dont want to buy more of those then the bare minumum in most cases.

Buying one each of all other units will start your army with some choices to spare, which IMHO is what you will need to learn when handling the army (any! army).

Remember this is aWarmaster, so there are no uberunits and there is (hardly any) listtailoring...

The only "extra" unit, other then the basics for 1K I would invest in is the unit you plan to use for the mirage spell.

Araby shares a trait with Empire, in that it is an army with  a multiple choices in each of its strategic slots. You will need to learn how to play with a mix of foot, cavalry and artillery. Having access to all different unitsat 1k will allow you to figure out what combo´s work for you.
