Dipping 10mm

Hi,

Just start thinking in dipping a bunch of warmaster bases. I do not usually use inks in my way of painting, so I do not control these technik, neither I dip before!

Any advises or tips for more experience painters?
I have some figures paint with flat vivid colors, which product do your recommend to dip 10mm? any special mixture with water or something? any guide or example in 10mm?

Use Armypainter medium, but paint on, not dipping. Decent effect, there should be some pictures around I will check later.

Actualy doing them twice now. used a flat basecollor then overpaint and then used the easier identifiable areas for secondary collors, and probably will "dip" again now for final shading and protection

In my opinion dipping only really works well with smaller figures if you are painting a rag tag or furry type of army. For warmaster I would use either devlan mud or badab black ink washes, painting them on with a brush (thickly) rather than physically dipping them.

Armybuilder is better for larger models 20mm plus.
If you do intend to use armybuilder, then paint the base colours one shade brighter than you actually want as the armydip will darken everything.

But that's just my opinion.

Tried this a few years ago on TK, O&G and Empire.
The results were mixed and not that good.
I concur with Dave, paint up your models to a base level and then a heavy wash of black or mud should do the trick.
I know this works particularly well on Chaos as I have recently done a commission this way (at the buyers request).

Check out the Pistoliers and Knights of the White Wolf that I painted for Carrington (my WM projects thread).

I did those figures by painting them one shade brighter then using a brushed-on wash to shade.  The washes I use are made using Future Floor Polish and ink or paint.  In the case of these units, I used mostly a wash of Payne's Grey.  I used a wash based on GW's Flesh wash for the skin.

To state the obvious:  You can always wash (or dip) twice to get the effect you want.  With a brush, you can even use multiple washes for different areas/colors of the model.

Personally, the only WM army I would risk using army dip on would be Tomb Kings as it's nearly all bone and cloth and its  a real horde army.

My plan to paint this army will be to:
1. Build it all and base it
2. Spray it all white
3. Army dip the lot
4. Paint on all the detail
5. Devlan Mud ink wash over the detail
6. Varnish

Much like other posters, i wouldnt dip my Warmaster stuff, a Devlan mud wash is all they need IMO
