Those kinghts are great pw.

I like the idea of Valten on the top of a bone mountain! such a idea. One day I will do something very similar :D

I started a thread for my Nippon army.  Here's the first unit:

I've got more photos in my Nippon thread.  I hope you like what you see!

Very nice indeed. Which reference is the dud with the katana over his shoulders in the last row of the left base?

I like those Nippon, they look great. My only suggestion is to do something with the bases, they don't seem to match the figures for quality just yet (a quick devlan mud wash perhaps?).

Here's a mini-Valten from me:

PW:  Valten looks great!

As for flocking:  I'm waiting until I have more units done, then I will flock a bunch of units together.  It was a bit of a stretch getting this unit done when I did!

Thanks  :).

I had a feeling that the bases weren't quite done. What are Nippon like to play (if you've tried them)?

I've played against them.  Daemons vs. Nippon.  It was a very interesting game and fun game.  Toward the end of the game it was a race between my instability checks and the break point of the Samurai.  Ultimately, the Daemons won due to some spectacularly good die rolling.

The Samurai have a break point like Brettonians, which means they can waste lots of peasant units if they want to.  With the Divine Ancestry and Retinue options, the army can be very anti-magic and can have some interesting special abilities.  The Mystic makes a great retinue option, as he effectively provides a second command die roll.

I highly recommend giving the army a try.

Nice to see this up and running again :)

Let's see if I can muster some time and motivation to contribute something.

Thanks jchaos. And come on schwager!

Here's my next unit, the filthy flagellants:

I began painting this unit during the last tale and finally, after what must be a year, they're done! Next up, I aim to finish January off with something quicker, probably a character or some skirmishers.

Wow pw, you have a great rate of painting. Those flagellants are great.

Here is my second unit in the tale: castellian knights (Caballeros de Castilla).

I am a bit distracted finishing some araby fantasy army as flying carpets and now a unit of sandorcs. But when they are finished I will focus only in the tale :)

Not really, these chaps were almost base coated when I found them in the painting pile so this is a slight cheat! But, it's only thanks to the 'Tale' that I got them finished so I'm happy.

Those knights look nice, are they smaller than GW Warmaster stuff?

Good news, it looks like it's pretty much us two doing this (or are others just posting to their own threads?). If the general thread isn't needed we can always go to each of us keeping our own 'diaries' instead?

Doh! :o Of course you are! Three makes us a Tale I reckon! Shall we keep a monthly thread as well as individual ones?

I think the monthly thread is what gives a common place for the Tale. I like the monthly threat
