Recasting - Has anybody tried it?

I have spent some time recently thinking about recasting some of the units I have. Does anybody have any experience with recasting? I can foresee trying to get such small molds to take could be challenging however it would be awesome to melt down some old 40k models or some such to get more Warmaster models. The process seems simple enough only the unique type of models that WM has (one solid base with many small shapes on it) may require centrifugal molding. 


Thoughts?

If i remember well, you can find a new silicon type on the CoolMiniOrNot site. But i don't know if you can put hot metal inside, or just plastic/resina.

To make the mold is not the problem.

The casting is the problem....you need a centrifugal for the small miniatures.

Cool -- do you have a link?  I'm starting the journey into resin casting.  I'm starting with one-piece molds.

I keep getting air bubbles in my resin.  Tonight I'm going to pick up Talcum powder which is supposed to help eliminate aire bubbles.

No Warmaster items yet, but I am planning on casting my own 10mm sculpts.

PLEASE TAKE THE FOLLOWING UNDER CONSIDERATION IN THIS DISCUSSION

There is no problem to discuss creating and casting your own miniatures
There is no problem discussing the options of recasting, as long as that would be done for PERSONAL USE ONLY
There is no problem discussing techniques, supplies, casters etc.

Just keep in mind that the IP of the original creator is something we homour on this board !!

I've had some experiments casting 6mm models using oyumaru and kneadatite...... while fine for things like tank turrets, the oyumaru isn't great at doing things like detail between legs

I'm tempted to have a play with some 10mm scale models when I get them to see if I can get better results than before.... I'd also imagine using resin would be a better option as 10mm models aren't as slight and fragile as 6mm, and wouldn't 'require' spincasting in metal.....
