Although the alliance between Empire and Kislev is one of the most longest and reliables of the Ancient World, there have been several tragic exceptions. The best known of these dark episodes, ended with the Battle of the Forest of Blood, many years before the Great War against Chaos.
The Von Montask family was one of the strongest families of the Empire, and had a great rivalry with the kislevite familiy Kaptuchenka. The origin of the conflict is now long forgotten, but the grudges had been holded for three generations, and things were going even worse because political rivalry arised too between them.
When Julius Von Monstak (heir of the Von Montask House) fell in love with Romea Katpuchenka (heir of the Katpuchenka family, and niece of the Tzar), dark and tragic events unleashed ending with the sad and terrible dead of both youngs. That tragedy lead both factions to an open war for six long years, in which the Emperor and Tzar efforts to stop it were in vain.
The war ended in the Forest of Blood battle, in the Northern Forests of the Empire. Both armies fought almost until the end, and losses were so big that after the battle, both factions retreated to their domains extremely weakened.
Counts Electors enemies of the Von Monstask stole their lands and castles through bribery and assesination. The Katpuchenka clan was literally destroyed by an enormous Chaos Invasion and winds of plague rotting their lands. Now, fortresses are abandoned and their domains are dangerous wastelands only dwelled by trolls and monsters.
The old forest of the battle, is now known by the Kislevite clans as the Forest of Blood, as in the core of the forest all leaves and plants show a dark red colour, in every season of the year, and nowadays even elves try not to get too much into the deep of the forest without a good reason....
Kislevite list was the experimental (with red guard and cossacks), instead of the regular one.
