I will try to go, but don't know yet. It will depend on the date, but I'll do my best! :)

My goodness, if this is going international I'll really have to make the effort! I'd really like to meet up with some of the real people behind the forum names.

I would like to meet you guys in person too  :)

I thought about doing something similar using Warhammer World as a base (for that extra glamour!).

What do you mean with that?

Warhammer world would be cool but I worry that they may "mess us about" e.g. if an official GW event, catering to one of their core games turns up between now and when we all actually turn up, the hall may be closed to us. It will need to be formally discussed with them first, they may not like hordes of specialist gamers turning up? Or is it possible to book the hall at a reasonable price and even use their tables/scenery in an official tournamnet style event? (without it costing a kidney each). The advantage of GW Lenton is Bugman's Bar........ mmmmm..... beer......

What I meant (with a little bit of tongue in cheek I suppose) was that having the event at Warhammer World would be fun - there's a good (dwarf themed) bar that serves food, the tables are great, there's plenty of scenery and the Mail Order stuff is ready to hand. What I didn't mean was that this should replace the event mooted in this thread, York's a great place to go! I was just remarking that I'd thought about doiong something similar (and still might if there are players).

Ah, ok thanks, Warhammer World is a place in Nottingham...  ::)

If GW is going to "mess us about" for us being playing one of their games, in their place, sounds strange... (but I believe you Dave ;) )

I would go to York or other place in Uk (including WWorld). For me the most important is to have fun meeting the people and playing, and if possible without spending a kidney!!  :)

I don't that's ever happened in whworld.

I have read on the net about people not being able to play specialist games in the shops (don't know if that's true because i haven't been to a GW shop for a long time) , but thankfully it doesn't affect whworld.

A good example.... today they had a warhammer tournament on (Throne of Skulls i think it's called) Me and a mate were also playing warmaster on our own table as this went on.  ;D

Hell - a game in Nottingham again? Would even tempt me to go there and show GW that Warmaster is still alive.
Last time we were there with EuroGT they were quite hospitable and I found the "Middle Age Court" athmosphere as thrilling as "Bugman's Bar".
Not that they would not have enough terrain but some WM specific terrain would definitely help as most of theirs is WHF or 40k specific.

And important, I would need at least 6 months ahead to coordinate the date and book the flight...

Heck, Warhammer World would be cool, I'm not against it per se - back in the day when I used to play WHFB I enjoyed a couple of  tournaments there. I'll turn up as long as its a date I can do (the more notice the better!)

Once Stuart's day has been sorted I'd be happy to organise a second event at WHW (unless someone else wants to) and six to eight months lead time sounds sensible (it'd give us all time to get our armies painted and to forewarn GW). I've always found the staff at WHW very helpful and I've played SG there a fair bit. I've also found them pretty cool about helping out organising tournaments too.

I'm derailling Stuart's thread here, I'll start another once this event has been sorted.

Thanks guys for all this information. I am decided to go unless the date or total price of the trip make it really impossible.

Great! I'm interested too...  ;D
