Trial Army Lists -- Who else is using them?

I've been playing the Tournament Daemon Army list for a while now, and I am in the process of painting up a Nippon army. 

Who else has used any of the trial army lists to build an army?  I feel all alone in using these lists.  I posted a comment about the Tournament Daemon list in the Trial Army list forum, and it looks like no one has replied.  It leads me to think that nothing will happen with feedback on these army lists.

Who else is playing any of them?

Our group uses the High Elf and Daemon trial/tourney lists as the basic ones are 'too good.'
One of the lads has recently bought a load of wood elves using the trial lists.
I use the Grimgor 'Black Orc' list from time to time, now that I've got loads of black orcs (courtesy of Bel!)

You are mistaken. RBT and Reavers of Tournament list have no +1 to hit modifiers when shooting as Archers do. IIRC there are some more minor changes that make the trial list more balanced.

I play with Khorne Daemonic Trial army. It is not an outstanding army but well-playable (perhaps bkz I cheated - I still have magic casters though Khorne forbid 'em).

One of the Madrid players, Enbaji, use in the last game experimental kislev and as far as I know, he feels that the list changes a lot... I mean you can not play with the same strategy as regular kislev. He also plays with witchhunters.

I need to end some basic armies until start with a trial armylist.

Ed, I use the tourney HE list in my group, and my buddy uses DoW and is building Goblins.

A closely related question. What's the deal with the Bret army in the Trial Armies PDF? Is it like the High Elf and Daemon armies in that it is toned down from the original, or more of a more robust variant?

We tried out the Slayer list, it didn't result in a particularly great game but I think it was due to the fact that my opponent who was using it didn't use it to his advantage and the win for me was far too easy. Our post-game chat was more fun and I think we figured out how it could be used well (and we decided that it was a nice fresh take on the Dwarf list). That said, we haven't returned to the list and probably won't as we don't get enough games played to really work over trial lists in the way that they deserve. For a time-poor WM player (me) there are enough 'regular' lists to keep things fresh!

IIRC Bret Trial list was tuned for better versatility and some units were ('semi-officially') added  (Pegasi, Reliquae, Hippogriff). Ask Austrian players to share their experience.

Our group gave them a good go, we played with those lists for about a year. But now we no longer use them, there's quite a few rules and stats we don't like.

Now we've gone down a route which is closer to warmaster ancients (eg. archers have 2 melee attacks) The lists are more balanced as well, everyone is much happier   

(but each to their own, as long as your group enjoys the army lists, choose any you want. I think the Trial army lists are perfectly fine)

I agree, anything which adds options and ideas and choice is a good thing. Anything your group doesn't like - just don't use it!
This is one of the strengths of "post gw" games, the fan base goes the way they want and "official" rules don't get in the way!

Any attempt to enforce a new common set of rules/interpretations is just going to cause schism

Well....I wrote the "Daemon" Tournament army list.

When I started playing Daemons I had to learn how to handle this army on the battle field but after half a year I allmost one every game with them.
They are simply to good and that´s why I started to to turn the small screws and the Tournament army list is what came out.

It´s better balance army  now and still tough to beat in skilled hands.

All: Thanks for the responses.  It's good to know that others are using these lists as well.  The trial army subforum is pretty dead, so I wasn't sure.

Claus, Let me ask you this about Daemonic Instability.  I had a unit of daemons that was confused, and were missing a stand.  For the Daemonic instability test, I rolled a 6 -- yay!  Question is this:  Is the unit still confused?  The result does not indicate that it ceases to be confused. 

I am winning more often than not with the Tournament Daemon list.  It is very powerful, but doesn't do well against massed artillery.

Dave:  Yeah, the idiot who said he would cast up the pump wagons is taking longer than expected.  In related news, I do have a replicated Pump Wagon together.  If I can make it down tomorrow, I will bring it (and hopefully others) with me.



The Nippon army I'm painting will require lots of units.  For a 2K list, I'm looking at something like 9 units of Ashigaru Spearmen.  It's a good thing I like painting those guys.

The Slayer list was pretty TIC, I do play younger Dwarfs (IIRC even at the last EuroGT), and I used the Nippon and DL lists.
