A closely related question. What's the deal with the Bret army in the Trial Armies PDF? Is it like the High Elf and Daemon armies in that it is toned down from the original, or more of a more robust variant?

Its more of a spiced up version with the addition of flying units and the relic as a peasant upgrade and a terror mount.
I pretty much always play with the trial list, although I have never used the hippogriff (cause its a general mount only) and the relic sees very little use as well, since my list is built to use a few peasants only as cannon fodder.
Also the relic upgrade has caused some discussion as some see it as to cheap for an upgrade that influences a whole brigade when placed correctly.  (Thats why I would have prefered an additional unit of pilgrims with the stats of the flaggellant stats and 1/1000 limit)
So that leaves the pegasus knights, who are pretty much the best flyers in the game but they also suffer from the knights rule, so often once they have landed in enemy lines they rarely come back since they have to charge on initiative. But on the other hand combined with the command spell you have a very powerful option to place them behind the enemy lines and magic them into combat.

The idea as far as I know was to make the bretonnians more like their WHF counterpart, but Spiritus is the mastermind behind the list.

The new Bret list sounds much more attractive with pegasus knights - I do like the idea of battle pilgrims or a relic thematically, but would that distract from the mounted knights / heroes theme?

IMHO Bret trial list better suits for peasants/squires/men-at-arms based army with minimum knights.

I think it offers place for both types, as it is basically the original list with additions, so you could go with a infantry heavy siege army with trebuchets or a knight heavy one. (the pegasi really help to boost your breakpoint by one for only 160 points)

I play the tria Bretonnian list since it was published and am quite content with it. It is also broadly accepted around here.
Bel mentioned the changes before. I have to add that the Trebuchet was changed too.

Especially the Pegasus Knights are a nice addendum. I don't leave home without at least a unit of them.
I used the Trebuchet a few times and it is usable for bretonnian players who want to be defensive.
I took the relic about three times and have a nice scratchbuilt unit for them but the rules are a bit complicated (although not as complicated as the kislev warwagon ;)). I could imagine they fit perfectly into some fluff-armies (crusade-style) but I do not use them too often.
The hippogriff is nice for those who want the honour of having Louen Leoncoeur and his mount as part of their army but we all know how often generals are sent into combat...

My win-loss ratio is about even I'd say but without the Pegasus Knights the army list would be lot more boring to play.

In the last tournament I used Experimental Kislev and it was:
1. more fun
2. well accepted
3. seems "better" than original list, but still balanced
