Warmaster - 6mm

Ive been buying a lot of WW2 6mm (1/300) stuff recently and found i absolutely love this scale, its cheap, there are a number of good ranges available, scenary is also cheap, painting them is easier than you may think as you can cut a lot of corners at this scale blah blah.

So im thinking of converting my ancients/medieval stuff(and possibly my fantasy if i can find suitable look-a-likes) to 6mm from my current 10mm, are there any considerations to make as regards the rules when playing at this  scale?

Well 6mm is a great scale also for warmaster. I use to play with the rules of WMA, bases of 4x2 and all the same.

In my opinion the best figures are Heroic and Ross. Really do not like Baccus, yes a little more detail but you lost the 6mm sensation, they are good for 10mm hobbits

For fantasy, irregular has an extense catalogue, is cheap and have good figures.

LoveJoy also has sculpted good 6mm fantasy miniatures.

And if you like 6mm sooner or later you will grab a 2mm army, it is also pretty interesting. As 6mm I use warmaster rules, with the same base system (I think touching this basic mechanic of the game, you could ruin it).

My Romans are Baccus 6mm and I think they're great.

They are very impressive indeed. And seems like a great work.

It was not my intention to spoke bad against Baccus, just said my personal own taste about 6mm figures on the market.

Anyway, you have a pretty large army, Brad. Which army do you fight with?

I think warmaster fits great with 6mm

Those look great guys, and im glad to hear there are no hidden problems in using 6mm, i'll probably use Heroics & Ros as i have their WW2 stuff and its great(& cheap )

Using 6mm will allow me to get all those ancient/medieval armies that ive wanted to try but would have been too costly in 10mm

Looks like an impressive army. I'm not sold on the detail of the models though. I prefer the 10mm scale.

I haven't actually played for many years now, sadly, but my Romans have taken the field against Dacians and Parthians.  With varying degrees of success

I personally love 6mm for historical stuff as you dont have that much room to be artistic when painting, so uniform color schemes are nice to paint on the smaller scale.
But for Fantasy I personally prefer the 10mm minis, where you have a little more room to paint.

Rulewise only the bases count in warmaster, so whats standing on them is really just viewing pleasure, so it really doesnt matter.

6mm do not have to much room for painting, true. But it gives other persepctive, that is the population of the base, so you can play with how crowd or how to create little diorams.
